You get 8 characters: Ken, Ryu, Blanka, Guile, Chun-Li, Sagat, Balrog, and Bison have made the cut. Strangely, Dhalsim's music is available during the sound test, but his character is missing.
It doesn't take long to realize that this is not the Street Fighter II everyone knows and loves. You have one punch and one kick, both of them being fierce hits. Combos only go as high as 2 hits so your famous 10 hitter won't be effective at all in this one. Each character only has 2 of their special moves meaning that Ken and Ryu's feared dragon punch is gone. You'll have to rely on the hurricane kick and fireball to pull through this one....when you can get 'em off.
The controls are, shall we say, "less than accurate." And that's being kind. If you actually manage to get a special off, it's a small miracle. Kicks, punches, blocking, and jumping come off well enough, so it makes little to no sense why they don't work.
Hit detection is shaky, but mostly accurate. Every 2 hits takes off life, regardless of what moves you hit your opponent with. Blocking special moves is pretty much a worthless endeavor since they take off just as much life whether your blocking or not. These flaws scream rush job, even though it was released in 1997 and it obviously didn't need to be.
Surprisingly, the graphics are great, outstanding even. The characters look strikingly similar to the it's Genesis counterpart and even animate well. The backgrounds have been butchered to make sure the characters look as they do, but the majority maintain enough of the charm the originals did. All background animation has been removed and usually only a few still background sprites remain. Check out "Capcom" written on the boat in Kens stage....it's backwards, simply a reversed sprite.
Packed inside this 8-meg cart is a ton of voice, but none of it during actual gameplay. The announcer spouts out the round, fighters, and the continue countdown. The music is the stuff classics are made of, but, uh, 8-bitized. A few have even been re-worked a bit to give them their own feel.
While this is not the version of the game to introduce non-SF fans too, the hardcore fans might find this an interesting diversion. That is of course, if they can live with the complete lack of combos and the impossible specials. Still, it's better than the Game Boy version and can be playable if you just accept the hardware it's running on. Competent, just not the game it used to be.

They come from all over the world, from all walks of life, from all beliefs and cultures. Male and female, young and old, small and large, tall and short, they have but one thing in common - they are Street Fighters. A breed apart from your average brawler, the Street Fighter is the ultimate physical fighting machine. Each has his or her own unique talents and skills, and each lives by the Street Fighter code. Every year, once a year, they travel all over the world and battle each other for the world championship among their kind. Super Street Fighter 2 - The New Challengers, is the most impressive of the Genesis series with a sixteen character fighter roster - this is the only known 40 mbit cart in existence for the platform .The extra room was required for the improved graphics and expanded fighter roster and the game uses a unique bank-switching technique to access the extra data stored above the usual upper limit that the Genesis/Mega-Drive was designed to use.

All twelve characters from the previous Street Fighter II games returned, with many having their basic and special techniques refined to adjust the overall balance.[1] Some of the characters received new special techniques such as Ryu's Fire Hadōken (renamed Shakunetsu Hadōken in the Street Fighter Alpha series), a flaming Shoryuken for Ken, Zangief's Atomic Buster and M. Bison's Devil Reverse.
Four new characters were also introduced to the game in addition to the returning roster, expanding the number of playable characters to sixteen. The new characters include T. Hawk, an indigenous warrior from Mexico whose ancestral homeland was taken from him by Shadaloo; Cammy, a 19-year-old female special forces agent from England with a mysterious past tied to M. Bison; Fei-Long, a Hong Kong movie star who wishes to test his martial arts against real opponents; and Dee Jay, a kickboxing musician from Jamaica seeking inspiration for his next song.

With Street Fighter II: The World Warrior, Capcom has done a masterful job of cramming the 58 megabit arcade game into a 16-meg Super NES cartridge. The game is fast and hard-hitting with little slowdown, and a number of extras are included, such as an "all-new" Versus mode. There are missing elements, but they are relatively insignificant. Thanks to Nintendo's family-friendly policies, the blood has been changed to a gray substance (supposedly sweat) and Chun Li's moves aren't as provocative. In addition, a few background animations, character voices, and minor moves didn't make the cut. Nonetheless, this home rendition is a remarkable achievement.

You play as Ken, the hero of Street Fighter series. It's been 25 years since you have last participated in a fighting tournament. Now you have become a scientist and have developed a powerful medicine together with your friend Troy. But an unknown fiend breaks into your laboratory, kills Troy, and steals your invention. It's time to recall the good old days and to embark on a quest for revenge!
Despite the US title, the game has little to do with Street Fighter games. This is an action platformer in which you navigate Ken around, trying to avoid or kill the enemies. You can shoot at them with ranged weapons, adjusting the direction of the shot, or kick and punch them. Ken is very agile and can jump high and climb walls.

Based on the 1996 Capcom arcade game, Street Fighter Alpha 2 for the Super NES retains all the combos, moves, and characters from its arcade counterpart. However, the sound effects are atrocious, backgrounds lack animation and certain details, and the fights suffer from being plagued by slowdown during custom combos and super moves.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 [a] is a 2D competitive fighting game originally released by Capcom for the arcades in 1998. It is the third game in the Street Fighter Alpha sub-series, which serves as a prequel to Street Fighter II, and ran on the same CP System II hardware as previous Alpha games.
Street Fighter Alpha 3 discards the "Manual" and "Auto" modes from the previous Alpha games and instead offers three different playing styles known as "isms" for players to choose from. The standard playing style, A-ism (or Z-ism in Japan), is based on the previous Alpha games, in which the player has a three-level Super Combo gauge with access to several Super Combo moves. X-ism is a simple style based on Super Street Fighter II Turbo, in which the player has a single-level Super Combo gauge and access to a single but powerful Super Combo move. The third style, V-ism (or "variable" style), is a unique style that allows the player to perform custom combos similar to the ones in Street Fighter Alpha 2, but cannot use Super Combos. In X-ism, players cannot air-block nor perform Alpha Counters, and can only use 1 Super Combo move in its powerful Level 3 version. X-ism has the highest attack power but least defence, A-ism has more attack power than V-ism and a similar level of defence. All three modes have variations of movesets for each character, adding considerable depth to the gameplay. If 3 modes weren't enough there are hidden modes too that add handicaps to the player as well as benefits (E.g. Classic Mode while you cannot use super combos you cannot be knocked in the air and juggled).
Alpha 3 also introduces a "Guard Power Gauge" which depletes each time the player blocks – if the gauge is completely depleted, then the player will remain vulnerable to an attack. When broken the bar shrinks and is refilled to its new maximum, it can be shrunk a number of times. Worth noting, while in X-Ism the character has the least defence of all modes it also has the largest guard bar, vice versa for V-ism with A-Zism being in the middle. Also the guard bar varies between characters, Zangief e.g. has a very large guard bar. The guard bar does not exist in Dramatic Battle matches so no guard crushing is possible there.
The I-ism style is customizable when selecting which character and super gauge to be used, which is only exclusive to Dreamcast version's Saikyo Dojo Mode, or PSP version's MAX update on World Tour or/and Entry Modes.
The controls for several actions have been modified from the previous Alpha games. For example, the level of a Super Combo move in A-ism is now determined by the strength of the attack button pressed (i.e. Medium Punch or Kick for a Lv. 2 Super Combo), rather than the number of buttons pushed; and throwing is now done by pressing two punch or kick buttons simultaneously.

A Game Boy Advance version developed by Crawfish Interactive was released in 2002 under the title Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper. The port is compressed and lacks several stages and music tracks from the previous arcade and console versions, although all of the characters are present. In addition, Eagle, Maki, and Yun, all whom were characters from Capcom vs. SNK 2 (released in 2001), were also added to the game. Only a small amount of character voices were included in this version due to storage limitations, which the developers worked around by having characters share voice samples, modified with real-time pitch shifting, such as using a higher pitched version of Ken's voice for Sakura's attack calls.

The Street Fighter Alpha series of games take place between the original "Street Fighter" and "Street Fighter II - The World Warrior". The scar on Sagat's chest in SFII is said to be from Ryu's Shouryuuken during the final battle in the original "Street Fighter". In 'SF Alpha', Sagat has the scar on his chest, so it must take place after the first "Street Fighter". The character Charlie was mentioned in Guile's ending in "Street Fighter II - The World Warrior". He is a friend of Guile who was killed by M. Bison. Since Charlie is still alive in the Alpha series, it must take place before "Street Fighter II - The World Warrior".
This is the first Street Fighter game to have the Dramatic Battle Mode, a feature no doubt inspired by the Japanese animated movie, 'Street Fighter II', where Ken and Ryu team up to fight M. Bison in the final battle.

Street Fighter Alpha revamps the Super Combo system introduced in Super Street Fighter II Turbo by adding a three-level Super Combo gauge. Like in Super Turbo, the Super Combo gauge fills in as the player performs regular and special techniques. When the gauge reaches Level 1 or higher, the player can perform one of his or her character's Super Combo techniques. The number of punch or kick buttons pressed simultaneously when performing a Super Combo determines the amount that will be used. In addition to Super Combos, the player can also perform a special counter attacking technique called an Alpha Counter (Zero Counter in the Japanese version) after blocking an opponent's attack, which consumes a level of the Super Combo Gauge.

Twelve of the world's greatest fighters have once again entered competition -- turbo style. Returning to the game are all your favorite characters with new colors and added moves: Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Blanka, E. Honda, Zangief, Dhalsim, Guile, M. Bison, Balrog, Sagat and Vega. Depending on which fighter you control, you can pull off rolling attacks, sonic booms, flash kicks, hundred hand slaps, sumo head butts and other special moves, along with the standard punches and kicks.
Was the original Street Fighter II too slow for your tastes? Now you can adjust the game's speed from one to a maximum of ten stars, raising the intensity of matches to new highs. Also, you can turn the time limit on or off. Like in the first game, a couple of energy meters across the top of the screen let you know who is winning the round.
Pick one of 12 warriors, including the four bosses, and battle your way until you are the last one standing. If that isn't enough, square off against a second player in the versus mode to see once and for all who is the Street Fighter Champion!

Street Fighter II - The World Warrior is the legendary fighting game that defined the fighting game genre. One or two players can choose from eight selectable World Warriors and must defeat the other seven, before finally taking on four non-selectable 'boss' characters.
Each fighter is as distinctive in feel and fighting style as they are in physical appearance, with each protagonist possessing several fantastical 'special moves' (the first genuine example of such in the fighting genre) to accompany the usual array of kicks, punches and throws. These special moves, while being difficult to execute due to the complexity of the joystick and buttons combinations required, allows the fighter to inflict huge amounts of damage on their opponent.
Street Fighter II is a fighting game in the truest sense of the word, with deceptively deep and strategic gameplay ensuring that experienced players would destroy simple 'button mashers' with relative ease.

Street Fighter II' Champion Edition is the first of many updates to Capcom's smash hit Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.
The two most striking changes to this update are the ability for both players to select the same fighter and the four boss characters (Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison) are now selectable. In addition, there have been some slight graphical changes, some basic attacks have been altered, and the damage of attacks (particularly specials) have been overhauled.

A superb, abstract and humorous fighting game featuring miniaturized renditions from several Capcom fighting games; including the legendary "Street Fighter" series, as well as "Darkstalkers" and the little-known "Red Earthtake".
During a bout, players will be able to release colored gems from successful attacks against their opponent, as well as from wooden chests that regularly appear. Collecting these gems will 'power-up' the player's character, giving them more powerful attacks. There are 2 bars and 3 sub-bars in the interface. The 2 main bars are the life bar and the super bar; the first indicates the player's health and the second their ability to throw super combos. The Super Bar itself can be filled up to 9 levels, allowing players to execute more super combos. Each super combo has a level assigned to it, and it uses Super Bars depending on it.
