The best of the Tetris knock-offs, this Japanese product adds some new moves, a plot of sorts, and great artwork. An excellent port of the arcade original. The built-in tutorial mode is also a nice touch.
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is a custom English language version of Puyo Puyo made by Compile for Sega of America - the biggest difference is that the chan-style graphics and plot were ripped out and replaced with a Sonic-derived setup.

By plugging Sonic 2 into the top of Sonic & Knuckles using the "Lock-On" technology you can replay the game as Knuckles. However no such feature was included in the original game (instead, attaching Sonic 1 to the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge unlocked the full version of Blue Sphere).
This hack allows you to over come this limitation and play Sonic the Hedgehog 1 as Knuckles.

Another in the long line of ground-breaking racing games from Sega, Rad Mobile is a twenty stage race across America; starting in Los Angeles and finishing in New York. With the game's release, Sega yet again introduced new gameplay elements to the genre, primarily in the form of dynamic weather effects. Sega's 1989 racer, "Turbo Out Run", also included limited weather effects, but they were far less prominent as a gameplay feature and a good deal less impressive than they are here.
Another Sega innovation is that many of Rad Mobile's stages have banked corners; with the car's cockpit view tilting to match the driving surface. Some stages also have police patrols, and players must either avoid or outrun the police cars or risk being pulled over. Being pulled over will result in a loss of valuable seconds.
In addition to the tight time limit, rival drivers (represented as red cars) and heavy, two-way traffic, players now had to contend with heavy rain, thick fog and darkness. Windscreen wipers and headlights had to be manually switched on by the player which, together with the first-person in-car view, gave a more realistic and interactive feel to standard but undeniably superb racing action.

A scrolling, isometric racing game for one to three players featuring Sega's legendary mascot, 'Sonic the Hedgehog'. Sonic's nemesis, 'Dr. Robotnik', is once again intent on World domination and is preparing to launch his latest attack from his new island base, Eggman Island.
When 'Sonic', 'Ray', and 'Mighty' drop in to thwart his plans, Robotnik catches them with one of his devious machines. After finding themselves imprisoned in a tower, the trio break free onto the island, and proceed to make their escape and try to defeat Robotnik and his evil plans.
Sega Sonic's gameplay retains elements of the original console games, such as Sonic's ability to jump on the heads of enemies to kill them. The golden rings that Sonic collects are also included. Each level is littered with Dr Robotnik's devious traps; with lava flows, collapsible platforms, locked gates etc. all serving to hamper Sonic's progress.
Sonic Arcade marked the first appearance of the characters 'Ray' and 'Mighty'. Ray has not appeared in any sequels thus far, but in the Sega 32X game, "Knuckles Chaotix", 'Mighty the Armadillo' appears as a selectable character along with another character called Knuckles.

By plugging Sonic 3 into the top of Sonic & Knuckles using the unique "Lock-On" technology you can replay the game as Knuckles. Some of the levels contain areas that are only accessible using Knuckles leading to speculation that this game was designed with "Lock-On" technology in mind, or (more likely) that Knuckles should have been present from the start, only to be dropped later in development.
Please note: Leeching points by repeatedly setting off alarms to generate enemies in the "Launch Base" stage in Score Mode is banned.

Sonic travels to the island of the Flickies to save them from Dr. Robotnik - in part inspired by old Sega platform arcade game Flicky.
The first game in the Sonic series to make use of an isometric perspective, which takes a lot of adjustment for fans of the series. Once you have mastered the control method though there's a solid game in here, well worth the initial frustration as Sonic bounces haphazardly all over the place!

Sonic Blast was released for Game Gear in conjunction with Sonic 3D Blast (aka Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island) for Genesis/MD and Saturn. It boasted similarly rendered character sprites and colorful backgrounds. The game was yet another addition to the series, plus Sega had hoped it would be a boost to the dying Game Gear's title selection at the time. Brazilian based TecToy re-released the game for Sega Master System in 1997, a year after the initial release (while many may think this is a pirated title, TecToy is indeed licensed to produce and release games under the Sega name).

Sonic Drift 2 is the sequel to Sonic Drift. It was released in Japan for the Sega Game Gear on March 17, 1995. The European version was released that same month as Sonic Drift Racing, and the North American release in November 1995. It added three characters: Knuckles, Fang the Sniper, and Metal Sonic, and marked the first time the last two were playable characters.
In the game, Chaos Emeralds are awarded for winning races. If Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Fang collect all six in the Blue GP, they will face Eggman in a final race around the Death Egg. If Eggman and Metal Sonic collect all six in the Blue GP, they will face Sonic in the final race.

Players control Sonic and Amy Rose by moving them around a pinball-like arena, using their power to roll into a ball to defeat Badniks and pick up keys in order to exit through the GOAL door to clear the stage. The only move Sonic can use in the game is the Spin Dash, because Dr. Eggman secretly replaced his famous red shoes with another pair: the Slow-Down Boots that took away his ability to run fast or jump, and they cannot be removed at all without the use of Chaos Emerald energy. Sonic and Amy do retain their ability to walk and Spin Dash, however there is a time limit in each stage so it is best to move quickly.

The game sees players playing as Sonic the Hedgehog as he travels across South Island to liberate it from the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik. Sonic is able to attack enemies by performing a Spin Attack, either by jumping into the air or rolling on the ground, the latter of which can also send Sonic off ramps. By collecting rings, Sonic can protect himself from damage from enemies and obstacles. Sonic will lose a life if he is hit without carrying any rings, or if he drowns or falls into a bottomless pit. Items found throughout the game include extra lives, speed shoes, invincibility, shields and checkpoints. Throughout the game, Sonic travels through six zones, each consisting of two main acts and a boss battle stage, where Sonic must fight Robotnik without any rings to protect him. At the end of each main act, the player hits a Goalpost which can award bonuses depending on how many rings Sonic is carrying. If the player has over 50 rings, they can access a bonus stage where more rings and continues can be collected. In each zone, there is a Chaos Emerald hidden somewhere in one of the acts, with a good ending awarded if the player finds all of them and completes the game.

This is the first of many games starring Sega's premier rodent, Sonic. It's a side scrolling platform game with a difference: speed. Sonic rushes through levels with incredible speed, allowing him to traverse loops and jumps with ease.
The evil Dr. Robotnik has captured many of Sonic's animal friends, and trapped them inside robots. Fortunately, Sonic can free his friends by destroying the robots with his spin attack. Meanwhile, Dr. Robotnik is trying to control the all-powerful chaos emeralds. Sonic must grab them before he does in the 3-d rotating bonus levels.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a significant game because it gave Sega it's first real mascot, and established Sega as the video game company with "attitude."
Totally excellent conversion proving that the Master System can retain some originality. Sonic's original adventure is still playable.

Who would have thought that a fast-paced arcade game about a smart-alecky blue hedgehog and his efforts at preventing the evil Dr. Robotnik from mechanizing the world would have turned into the hit series that it became? The original is a legend as far as arcade games go, the sequels are for the most part just as good or better, and the venture finally provided Sega with something it desperately needed at the time - a new mascot. Every Sega system since has had at least one Sonic game since his creation.
Sonic the Hedgehog, the one and only original, and the game that was most responsible for the popularity of the Genesis. Colorful graphics, catchy tunes, and fast gameplay are the standard hallmarks of the Sonic series. These titles remain as popular as they ever were, with each new entry adding its own particular twists. The first is a must, and so are most of the others.

South Island has been peaceful since Dr. Robotnik's defeat. Sonic, bored, decides to go on a journey in search of other adventures. Upon his return, he is shocked to find the island nearly abandoned. The only clue as to where all his friends might have disappeared to is a single note, written by his two-tailed fox buddy, Miles "Tails" Prower. In the note, Tails explains that he's been kidnapped by Dr. Robotnik and is being held in a place called Crystal Egg. The price for Tails' safe return are the 6 Chaos Emeralds, to be delivered to 6 new boss robots.
