Doraemon Nobita No Dorabian Nights is a side scrolling action game by Hudson Soft and is the second Doraemon game released for the PC Engine system. The game is based on a animated movie published in 1991. The game starts when Doraemon's friends decide to visit the various worlds hidden inside their favorite books - Sadly, the poor kids quickly quickly realize it wasn't such a brilliant useridea and they all end up being trapped inside those same book. Doraemon must now run to their rescue. The various stages take our friend to the realm of dinosaurs or to creepy haunted houses. Our hero can run, jump or use his stunt gun to freeze his enemies for a few seconds. Special items are also scattered around the game and can be found by exploring caves or by standing on top of bigger enemies or elements of the scenery - The ones worth mentioning are the flying-hat giving the player the ability to fly and therefore skip most of a stage, or a special cream enabling him to walk on water. New weapons can also be collected througout the game, such as the log_gun or homing-bomb-gun. Each 'book world' is divided into several sub-zones all connected by blue doors and Doreamon is free to revisit completed stages at will.

A platform adaptation of a popular Japanese children's cartoon, revolves around the misadventures of a cute blue cat who must rescue his owner and companions from the clutches of an evil space alien. A huge success in Japan, the series spawned a number of computer games, but this is the only one for the Genesis.
The show is juvenile and so is the game, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, this is probably the ultimate Super Mario clone for the Genesis! The game design and gameplay are so similar that you'll soon begin to wonder if the same programming house designed both games. Bravo! A job well done.
Doraemon vs. the Dream Thief and the Seven Gozansu is a rough translation from the Japanese - Doraemon Yume Dorabouto 7 Nin no Gozansu. Most people simply refer to it as Doraemon.
