The main new feature of the game other than the motion capture was the indoor football mode. The 32-bit version of FIFA 98 corrects this so that the game would only award a free kick for offside if the ball was passed roughly to where the player in the offside position was.

Electronic Arts' first soccer game for the Super Nintendo features a three-quarter perspective of the field, crowd chants in stereo sound, detailed animation, and moves such as diving headers, slide tackles and bicycle kicks. Be careful with those tackles--referees will throw down yellow or red cards for players who are too aggressive. Up to five players can play at once with Hudson Soft's Super Multitap.

Play modes include Exhibition, Playoffs and Tournament, where you can choose from a total of 30 international teams. Other options include fouls, adjustable half times, manual or computer controlled goalies, variable weather conditions, and either an arcade or simulation style of play. A password feature will let players resume their tournament or playoffs at a later time.
