Young Danny Madigan is alone in a dark theater watching the latest action flick starring his favorite movie actor, Jack Slater. Suddenly, because of a magic movie ticket he received, he is transported from his seat into the film itself. He now gets to live out his fantasies, fighting along side his hero.
With Danny as your sidekick, you portray Jack Slater through seven levels of Hollywood-type action. Two of the levels place Jack behind the wheel of a car in the midst of a high speed chase, running down mobsters, and dodging obstacles, manholes, and double-parked cars. The other levels consist primarily of Jack punching and kicking bad guys, most of whom brandish knives, guns, or baseball bats. Based on the 1993 Arnold Schwarzenneger film of the same name, Last Action Hero for the Super Nintendo takes place in New York City neighborhoods, gang-ridden streets, a funeral reception, a movie theater, and on top of tall buildings. Even though the storyline involves a sidekick, this is a one-player game.

Danny Madigan is watching a sneak preview of the latest film of his favorite hero, Jack Slater, when he is mysteriously catapulted inside the screen; now standing next to his favorite useridol. You are Jack Slater, an action movie hero, who takes on the ax maniac "The Ripper"?, who is holding a school under siege, and Benedict, a villain who wants to use Danny's ticket to bring terror to the real world.
The game, based on the film of the same name, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is very different for each platform. For most of them, the gameplay can be split up into two parts: side-scrolling fighting levels and wild car chases on the streets.

This video game is an adaptation of the film of the same name; which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as the main character of the film (Jack Slater).
Taking the form of a Final Fight-style scrolling beat-em-up, the game was critically panned due to its poor graphics, limited set of moves and repetitive gameplay. Players have a strict time limit to defeat each and every level of the game. Time easily runs out in the levels of the game; resulting in an instant death and an automatic loss of a life. Every version of the game has the climatic showdown with Mr. Benedict (the movie's primary villain). His most unrealistic portrayal was in the Super NES version is where he teleports around the screen and shoots bubbles at the player. There are two car chase stages: one in Jack Slater's "movie" world and another in Danny Madigan's "real" world.

Legend of Hero Tonmo offers some fast-paced, side-scrolling action that combines rapid-fire shooting with Mario-style jumping. As you explore ruins, forests, and caves, regenerating monsters badger you constantly as you shoot and jump frantically. The graphics sparkle, and the renaissance-style background music compliments the visuals quite nicely.
There's mad potential here, but the controls let me down more than a few times.

Legendary Axe II is more than just a fine sequel - it's one of the best hack-n-slash adventures out there. Like the first edition, you control an axe-wielding barbarian, leaping from platforms and whacking monsters like there's no tomorrow.
What's not to like? Well, our hero's outfit, for one thing. He appears to be decked out in a pair of tiny Speedos! Will somebody please slap some pants on this guy!? Otherwise this game is a real treat.
There's a certain amount of platform jumping involved, but the controls are crisp and the difficulty is fair. Ominous orchestrated background music adds to the overall experience. Without a doubt, Legendary Axe II is one of the best titles for the Turbografx-16.
There's also a supply of bombs at your disposal via the Run button.
