A precursor to 1986's "Bubble Bobble", the player controls a spell-casting elf who turns evil wizards, witches and other enemies into cakes and either pushes them from the platform ledges, or shoots then repeatedly to destroy them. If an enemy touches the player character, the elf becomes entrapped in a magic bubble and floats away. Each level takes place inside a variety of castles.

Cute-looking platformer with a hero that resembles a miniaturized Humpty-Dumpty who (of course) must endure all sorts of platform dangers to rescue his girlfriend from the bad guys.
The standard plot is rendered rather silly by the game's design, but the graphics and sound are neat, plus you carry inventory - something not usually found in a platform game.

The evil wizard Zaks casts a spell on the Yolkfolk and kidnaps Dizzy's girlfriend Daisy[2]. It is up to Dizzy to undo Zak's doings and rescue Daisy from the castle in the clouds.
The game is hard to qualify in a genre: while it seems at first a platform game, Dizzy is vulnerable to all enemies while unable to eliminate them, and puzzles are completed by bringing an object to a location (in the same fashion as Gods and adventure games), and also has to capture all 250 stars scattered in the game. The game can also be seen as a union of all the previous games where the player can find a lot of familiar puzzles (e.g. Elevators, magic beans) and places (e.g. mines, deep sea) as well has several arcade minigames based on older games in the series (like Bubble Dizzy).

A young American street fighter enters the Fatal Fury tournament in order to discover the reasons behind his brother's death.
One of the early Street Fighter 2 clones, and not quite up to its level of excellence. Character choice is limited, as are the graphics and sound. Still, the animation is decent enough, and some of the enemies have some rather unique special moves.

The immediate sequel to the original Fatal Fury revamped the controls from the original game, adding punch and kick buttons of different strength levels and allowing the player to switch between fighting lanes at will. Terry, Andy, and Joe return from the original Fatal Fury, along with five new playable characters (including Kim Kaphwan and Mai Shiranui). This time, the player faces off against the other main characters (as well as a clone of their own) before fighting against four computer-only opponents, culminating with new antagonist Wolfgang Krauser.

One of the early Street Fighter 2 clones, and not quite up to its level of excellence. Character choice is limited, as are the graphics and sound. Still, the animation is decent enough, and some of the enemies have some rather unique special moves. This second outing adds limited pseudo-3D movement, some more fighters, and reworks the game engine - resulting in a game that's almost as good as Street Fighter 2.

This 2D platformer has elements of role-playing and adventure in addition to side-scrolling action.
The story is a classic one of good versus evil. Disaster strikes the once peaceful Elf town of Eolis. The sky rains meteorites upon the World Tree - wild animals and evil monsters terrorize the citizens - the water supply from the wells is dwindling - plants are withering - people are dying. Only you can restore peace to the land by conquering the Evil One, who lives in the Evil Place.
There are many places you must visit during your quest including the medieval town, where you begin, country villages, fortresses, caves, and gloomy bogs - each with its own ambiance and musical score. You will be talking with the villagers, collecting gold to buy weapons, armor and other objects, jumping over obstacles and using items. Attack zombies, dwarves, giant snakes, wyverns, evil gnomes, or one-eyed one-footed things with a large collection of swords and daggers or zap them with a magic spell.
As areas are completed by defeating enemies, your character rises up in "levels" and achieves a new "rank" which is tied directly to the restore password (called a "mantra" in the game). The higher your "rank", the more gold you start out with. Saving a game can only be done in a shrine or temple with a priest. This is also where you are transported when you restart the game - or if you die.

For some reason, Hudson assumed kids would love a game based on a 60-year-old cartoon character that most only remember as a clock, But it is a pretty good little action-platformer.
The gameplay is certainly nothing new - it's the standard "run-n-jump" Mario gameplay - but the key is in the execution. Sure, the NES is loaded with games like this, but most of them don't have the excellent control, detailed graphics and animation and catchy music of this one.

Felix the Cat is a video game released in 1992 for the Nintendo Entertainment System and in 1993 for the Game Boy, published and developed by Hudson Soft. It is based on the cartoon character Felix the Cat.
The game involves the player controlling Felix the Cat as he sets out to defeat the evil mad Professor who has kidnapped Felix's lovely girlfriend, Kitty. The Game Boy version plays virtually the same as the NES version, but features fewer levels.
Felix the Cat has simple game mechanics. The A button is used to jump (press repeatedly to fly or swim), and the B button is used to attack. The type of attack varies depending on the magic level. When Felix falls into the bottomless pit (past the bottom of the level) or when the game clock runs to zero, he loses a life regardless of what his magic level is.

Uncle Fester was out one night moonbathing in the yard of the Addams Family property one day when suddenly, out from the sky a UFO descended and started beaming alien creatures to the planet. Grabbing his gun, Fester sets off to stop the aliens and slay their boss creatures, encountering other Addams Family user along the way who will aid him.
Fester's Quest is an overhead-view game in which Uncle Fester uses his gun, or later, a Whip to attack enemies near him. Enemies drop money and power-ups. The money can be used mostly at Hot Dog stands to replenish health. A variety of items can be collected, each with a different effect. Fester and the rest of the Addams family are based off of their characters from the popular 1960s TV show (this game was made before the remakes in both series and movie form).

A platformer with a somewhat different approach - you are a cartoon character mixing it up with elements from the real world.
It's the opposite of Comix Zone, both in design and style. Don't look for Marvel-style heroic action here - this is a pretty laid-back game that's very cool. Neat graphics, huge levels, the occasional puzzle. Cool!
