This was the first of the Golden Tee games to really take off. With golfing pro Pete Jacobsen on board as adviser and 'model' for the digitized players, and a new, more sophisticated hardware platform, it was possible for Incredible Technologies to dominate the bar/adult gaming market.

Over the years (up until 2001 in fact), very little changed in terms of the main program, with most of the effort concentrated on balancing the gameplay. To that end, all the Golden Tee titles from 3D to Classic are considered as 'Golden Tee 3', hence the punning title of "Golden Tee Fore!".

HAL's Hole in One Golf, the first golf game released on the Super NES, uses a non-traditional overhead view of the action. Up to four players are supported for either Stroke, Match or Tournament Play, where you compete against 60 fellow golfers in your pursuit of the Grand Prize trophy. If you'd rather learn the ins-and-outs of the swing meter, choose Practice mode to improve your game. Once you're ready, challenge the HAL Pro in a one-on-one contest to win a special prize: metal clubs. Other notable features include three difficulty levels, the ability to use spin, draw or fade, and an adjustable handicap. A special password will be awarded to those who manage an eagle, albatross or hole-in-one so they can view their shot over and over again.

Hole in One Golf features three 18-hole courses playable in either Stroke or Tournament formats. The three fictional courses take place in Hawaii, Tokyo, and Arizona, and statistics for each course as well as Tournament progress are automatically saved.

The game is presented in a mixed perspective. The pre-shot perspective is a standard third-person view from just behind the golfer, but once the ball is hit, the view switches to a top-down perspective to track the ball in flight. The game takes a simplified approach to hitting the ball. Instead of setting the power and controlling the shot, the only function of the vertically-oriented swing meter is to select the vertical angle of the shot, which, in turn, sets the amount of backspin/topspin applied to the ball. The strength of each swing is selected prior to the shot by setting a power gauge to one of 16 levels. Draw and fade can be applied to the ball by changing the players stance. It all might sound complicated, but it's fairly straightforward.

Players can choose to play as one of four golfers (power hitter, all-round player, technician, and magician). Each of these golfers possess a unique skill set that influences the player's ability to make certain types of shots. The game provides the usual array of game modes: tournament, match play, stroke play, and a skins game.

The Irem Skins Game is an arcade-style golf game that lets up to four players participate in a (you guessed it) Skins Game, where each hole has a cash prize of at least $10,000. The player with the fewest strokes after completing the hole earns the money, referred to as a "skin." Should players tie, the money is carried over to the next hole until someone finally wins it. There are also two bonus rounds that will give each player a chance to win $20,000 if he or she is the closest to the pin, and the winner of the competition is the player with the most money at the end of 18 holes.

Besides the Skins Game, the title also includes Match Play and Tournament, which involves playing either 18 or 36 holes against computer opponents. Players can choose between four characters to play as (three males and one female), who all differ in the following abilities: drive, power, accuracy, hook, slice, and backspin. Unlike many other golf games for the Super Nintendo, the golfer is on the screen at all times during play. The swing meter is represented by a long vertical bar that has a horizontal line moving up and down. After selecting your club, altering stance and determining power, simply press the button when the line reaches the target area to complete the swing.
