The final installment of the FINAL FANTASY LEGEND RPG series is one of the deepest RPGs available on Game Boy. In FINAL FANTASY LEGEND III, three children are sent from the future to a world that is about to be swallowed up an evil water entity. Their mission is to find some way to save the planet from its horrible fate. Joined by a friend from the current era, they must hop through three different time periods, exploring dungeons and fighting enemies. In a change from previous games in the series, you begin with a fixed party of two humans and two mutants. However, if you choose, you may evolve them into robots or monsters by installing parts or eating meat dropped by enemies. Weapons no longer degrade with use, and a much greater emphasize has been placed on the storyline.

Romancing SaGa 3 is the sixth title in the SaGa role-playing video game series developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) and released exclusively for the Super Famicom system in Japan.

The gameplay is similar to other console RPGs of the era, but with several notable differences. For example, instead of 'level ups', character stats increase individually depending on their participation in a battle. Also, a character has a certain amount of 'LP', which decreases when the character's HP is reduced below zero or when they are hit while their HP remains at zero. If the LP of a character is zero, they are removed from the party, but they can be recruited again with the exception of the main character of the current game, once the main character reaches zero LP, it results in an automatic game over.

During battle, characters can learn ("spark") new techniques which often turn the battle in their favor; the same goes for gaining the ability to evade certain enemy attacks. There is also a Commander mode, which requires at least one character more than the lead character, with the lead character on the back lines, out of the battle. If the player has less than a full party of 6 he or she may use one person smaller formations (i.e. using a four-person formation with a party of five so the main character can direct in Commander mode.) During Commander mode, techniques that involve multiple characters can be learned, depending on the formation.

The player assumes the role of the hero Gilgamesh, whose goal is to rescue the maiden Ki (カイ) from the demon Druaga. To do this, he must traverse through 60 floors of an immense tower. Gilgamesh comes equipped with a sword, which he can use to defeat monsters, and a shield, which can be used to block magical attacks. The monsters get progressively more difficult as the game progresses, beginning with simple slimes and culminating with Druaga himself. Each floor consists of a maze filled with monsters, and a randomly placed locked door leading to the next level. The player must navigate through the maze to find a randomly placed key that unlocks the door. In addition, each floor contains a hidden treasure, which appears once the player has performed a specific requirement. The player's starting position is also randomly determined; however, the hidden treasure always appears in the same position the player starts from when revealed. The mazes themselves are not random, but there are various predetermined patterns. Some of the treasures are merely helpful items, some are detrimental, and some are essential to completing the game including the Blue Crystal Rod, the game's most important item; without it, Druaga will not appear and the player will be forced to return to an earlier floor.

Tower Of Druaga is a top-view dungeon crawler by Namco, conversion of their own arcade game originally released in 1984. The intrepid prince Gilgamesh is on a quest to deliver his beloved princess Ki, kidnaped and kept prisoner at the highest floor of the Tower Of Druaga. His journey will also get him to retrieve the stolen Blue Crystal Rod, a magical treasure that has kept the kingdom strong and prosperous for hundred of years. Each one of the sixty floors has a hidden golden key used to unlock the exit door leading to the next level. Each floor also has its own family of traps and monsters such as slimes, knights, magicians and the famous, and deadly, Ropers. Gilgamesh starts his long journey with a golden armour, a sword (which can be drawn by holding the action button) and a shield (used to block magic attacks). However, a lot more equipment can be collected along the way. Treasure chests are hidden in every stage and contain new weapons, armors and special items such as magic potions. Their appearance is usually triggered by certain conditions, such as clearing all the monsters or stepping on a particular spot in the maze. Experience point are generally awarded at the end of every floor and Gill can upgrade one of his many skills (gain more life for instance). But Tower Of Druaga's gameplay goes deeper than it seems and unlocking all the treasure chests is where the real challenge of the game lies.
