This is the conversion of Taito's scrolling beat 'em up, which later produced unofficial sequels Target: Renegade and Renegade 3. The game is set on the mean streets of Brooklyn, which you must venture through to meet your girlfriend, and then rescue her from her kidnappers. This is split into five levels, taking you through the subway and the docks as well as some inhospitable streets. A wide range of aggressive moves are on offer, including headbutts, kicks, punches and flying kicks. Much of the game's violence is depicted in a fairly tongue-in-cheek style, with an element of attempted humour along the way.

You're an iron-fisted vigilante out to save your city from the evil Syndicate. Brawl down and dirty in the streets. Challenge biker gangs to a dangerous highway battle! Punch past armed thugs on your way through the Syndicate mansion and the ultimate fight!

After a clutch of superior beat-'em-ups hitting the Master System, this attempt looks decidedly weak and offers nothing new or classy.

An incredibly difficult but classic beat-em-up from Technos that sees a single player taking on huge gangs of street fighters. The game is spread across four stages levels, each of which is only 2 or 3 screens wide; giving the player nowhere to hide. Renegade was a rather more brutal game than others of its genre, and even allowed the player to keep attacking a downed enemy. It was also possible to pick up fallen enemies and throw them at oncoming fighters.

Renegade's designer would take what they learned while designing and writing Renegade and improve upon it in every conceivable way for the legendary "Double Dragon", released a year later.

2 A.M. is no time to be alone in the subway. And you're about to find out why. They've got clubs, chains and blades. And it's three against one... but they've picked the wrong one. The streets are a mess and it's time to do a little street cleaning. They started it... You've gotta finish it!

Renegade 2, AKA Shin Nekketsu Kouha: Kunio Tachi no Banka, is a belt-scrolling action game released by Technos Japan Corp. exclusively in Japan for the Super Famicom in 1994. It was the fourth game in the Kunio-kun series released for the Super Famicom and was developed by Almanic.

Gameplay:
The fighting system is similar to the original Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun (Renegade) or the Double Dragon series. The controls consists of three attack buttons (for punches, kicks or back-attacks), jump and defend. Initially, Kunio and Riki can only perform basic moves while wearing their prison clothes. When they switch to their school uniforms, Kunio and Riki get access to more elaborate techniques such as grappling moves and individual special attacks. The fighting styles of the female characters also differ from their male counterparts (Misako and Kyoko cannot perform grab attacks for example, nor can they can they be grabbed by enemies).

Story:
Kunio and Riki are convicted of a hit and run accident and the two are sentenced to be locked away in the West Nerima Juvenile Jail. However, the two young men have no memories of ever committing such an act. The morning after, the duo are visited by Kunio's friend Hiroshi, who informs them that a series of suspicious activities have been occurring in Nekketsu High School and that man who looks like Kunio has been spotted in town. Suspecting that they may have been framed for a crime they didn't commit, Kunio and Riki set up an escape plan to meet up with Hiroshi. After a successful breakout, Kunio and Riki set out to find the true culprits.

NOTE: Originally titled Planet of the Apes, but had to change the title due to copyright infringement.

In what may be the first video game ever to put the player in the shoes of Charlton Heston, Planet Of The Apes for the Atari VCS placed you in charge of the fate of lost-in-time astronaut Colonel George Taylor, stranded on a future Earth where apes have risen to the top of the food chain and keep human beings in cages. As with the title of the game, references to the copyrighted name 'Taylor' were removed from the revived version of the game.

The action takes place over several screens: Deserts; Forests; the Apes' Village; a River Crossing; Subterranean Caverns; and the climactic Statue of Liberty scene from the film. There are three different kinds of apes in this game: Chimpanzees - these little guys are harmless and can be touched without fear; Orangutans are a bit bigger and a lot more dangerous than the Chimpanzees, touching them will get you captured; Gorillas are the most dangerous of all the apes, not only can they capture you, but they can shoot at you as well.

Perhaps it was a form of protest against bottled ketchup, or maybe they were provoked by acid rain. Previously harmless garden tomatoes started turning into cold-blooded killers. Big beefsteak tomatoes started flying about rudely splattering innocent bystanders. No weapon known to man could prevent those vicious veggies from multiplying. Just when all seemed hopeless, someone suggested that since the plants could not be destroyed, they should just be trapped behind brick walls. Now the question is, can enough walls be built in time to stop the tomatoes from taking over the world? Find out before it's too late!

Ribbit! is a one or co-operative two-player abstract arcade game and is an unofficial sequel to Konami's seminal 1981 release, "Frogger".

Unlike its legendary prequel (in which players had to guide a frog to his home at top of each screen without being killed) the aim here is to guide a toad around a screen, eating benign insects - such as Ants and Dragon-flies - while avoiding harmful ones - such as Spiders and Rats. A level is only complete once a set amount of insects have been eaten.

Ribbit's stages take place over a number of different locations, including a sandy desert, a beach and - in tribute to the original game - on a fast flowing river with logs and turtles acting as platforms.

Bonus points are awarded if a stage is completed within 60 seconds - with the amount earned dictated by how quickly the stage is completed. A bonus round also appears after every third stage, in which players must run over as many of either flowers or mushrooms as possible to make them bloom.

Riot City is a side-scrolling beat-em-up for one or two players who take on the roles of 'Paul' or 'Bobby', two talented fighters who are given the task of breaking a drug syndicate known as "MID". It has also been discovered that Paul's girlfriend has been kidnapped by the syndicate and must be rescued.

MID's hideout is located on Riot Island, an island full of abandoned, run-down buildings that has since become a slum. Locations include apartments, a hospital, a factory and a casino.

Riot City is practically a direct copy of Capcom's superb 'Final Fight', with both gameplay and graphical style heavily copied from the 1989 classic. One gameplay difference is that Riot City does not allow players to pick up and use weapons as they can in Final Fight, although bonus items found in various containers can be collected.

The goal of the game is to jump out of the plane and land safely on one of the many targets down below. The challenge is to avoid the numerous enemy helicopters that occupy the sky in between your plane and the ground.

You control the timing of your jump with the Jump button, at which point your parachutist begins hurtling toward the ground out of control. Pressing the D-Ring button shortly afterwards releases the chute and slows your descent. More importantly, it allows you at this point to control your left/right position via the paddle control to help you avoid the enemies.

Metropolis 4 is in the midst of an android revolution. Sentient rebel robots, tired of playing second banana to half-human, half-machine cyborgs, are attempting to take over the world. As a cyborg, you can help subvert this uprising by fighting a series of one-on-one battles against tough, solid steel robots with such names as The Ape, Crusher, Loader, Morphing Supervisor and Builder. As in most fighting games, you must win two out of three fights in each confrontation to advance and grapple with the next character. This cyborg-versus-robot futuristic fighting game also features music by Queen guitarist Brian May.

The game was very similar in style and gameplay to other fighting games popular at the time, such as Street Fighter II and Mortal Kombat, but with pre-rendered CGI sprites rather than pixel art. The game's characters, including the player, were all robots, and the plot borrowed heavily from the cyberpunk genre.
