Yuko is just your average everyday attractive teenage schoolgirl, with an average life in an average town. Little does she know that she is the chosen one who will wield the legendary Valis sword and save the inhabitants of a parallel dimension from an evil that threatens their existence.
Second (Valis 2 was not released for the G/MD) in a series of rather lame and dated platformers featuring another one of those teenage sword-wielding Japanese schoolgirls. I just wish the games were half as good as the concept, which can be seen in the occasional anime-style cinema. It's my understanding that a short-lived anime series followed not long after the release of the original games.
Valis 3, this time you get your pick of three girls and have to face fiercer enemies - the best game in the Genesis series although that's not saying much, requires far too much precision jumping.

Valis - Fantasm Soldier, the one that sets it all up, and the second worst-playing one of the lot - graphics aren't bad, though, and the anime-style cinemas are first-rate.

Master of Darkness is a platform game, very similar to Castlevania. The plot has the player entering the role of a psychologist named Dr. Social trying to defeat Dracula, who is behind a series of killings in London which have been attributed to Jack the Ripper.
The game requires the player to battle his way through several locations such as cemeteries, laboratories, castles and a house of wax dolls. To defeat the enemies (which range in ability and include zombies, bats and ghosts), players can utilise several primary and secondary weapons. Primary weapons are close combat weapons ranging from knives to rapiers and axes, that differ in range and efficiency. Secondary weapons are long-range weapons (pistols, bombs etc.) with limited ammunition. The player can hold one type of primary and secondary weapon. Picking up a new weapon means it automatically replaces the previous weapon in the player's inventory.

Quinn Hart and his partner, Detective Reese of the VICE squad both work to stop the trafficking of illegal substances. But something new has appeared on the scene, a neon gel with great addictive properties. During investigations as to the origin of the gel, Reese mysteriously disappears and leaves Hart without a lead. Time passes and Hart becomes romantically involved with his new partner, Christy, as he continues trying to track down the gel. But Hart is about to get a brand new lead...
Vice: Project Doom is a game that features both overhead driving modes and side-scrolling platform adventure sequences. Hart's vehicle can accelerate or slow down and fire his weapon straight ahead. During side-scrolling sequences, Hart can jump, duck, climb or use his selected weapon. Weapons that can be selected include a Katana sword, a pistol and a grenade-type weapon. These weapons feature limited ammunition with the exception of the katana. Power-ups include ammunition, coins, and health.
During both of these sequences, Hart must fight and maneuver his way past enemy foes to confront a boss. By destroying the boss and completing the level, Hart progresses and learns a bit more about the origins of the neon gel and what Project Doom is all about. Cinematics dialog between the levels tell the tale in a style similar to that of Ninja Gaiden.

Sega's answer to Battle Arena Toshinden - one of the first third-generation fighting games with the same style as Mortal Kombat, but using new technology to deliver a true 3D street fighting experience. This is not a sequel to the original 32-bit arcade game, but is instead a "special edition" rendered in now-familiar 2D side-scroll SF2 style in order to avoid the hardware limitations of the standard 16-bit Genesis console.
The requirements of the original were so steep that only the 32X could deliver on a true port of the arcade game. It's probably the best SF2 clone in existence for the console, but it seems stale after you've experienced the arcade original.
