Billed as the most realistic fishing simulation ever to grace a console machine, Bass Masters Classic provides armchair fishermen with all of the entertainment of a day at the lake. Developed with the help of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (BASS), this title simulates just about every imaginable detail that factors into a player's daily performance. The game is divided into several tournaments which players can compete in, including local, state, and regional levels of competition, leading up to the ultimate showdown at The Classic.

The general useridea behind the game is to catch as many fish as possible, trying to rack up the most pounds caught overall, because the guy with the heaviest load of bass gets the glory. All of the action takes place from a first-person point of view, and requires a lot of control on the player's part. A huge database of authentic fishing equipment, including rods, reels, lures, and more is available to outfit your character.

Pick one of several colorful characters and participate in the annual BASS Masters fishing tournament.

BASS Masters Classic - Pro Edition has better graphics and gameplay, and features cameos by several well-known professional anglers.

Neat useridea, but for me the game ended up being more of a commercial for various kinds of fishing gear. Why not just grab a pole and hit the lake? It's far easier and a lot more satisfying, too.

Now you can hit the lakes with fisherman extraordinaire Hank Parker in Bassin's Black Bass for the Super Nintendo. Your goal is to become Bassin's World Champion by fishing and competing your way through four tournaments: the local amateur tournament, the amateur bass championship, the pro bass championship, and the Bassin' world championship. You cannot skip your way through the amateur ranks to other tournaments or lakes; the tournaments must be completed in the appropriate order. The fishing holes include Green Valley Lake, Onyx River, Bronze Lake, and Bluestone Lake.

After registering to begin a new game or continue an existing one, it is time to fish. There are sixteen different lures to choose from, each with its own attributes. For example, the frog bait slides easily through weeds and lily pads, and the noisy bait creates a splash that attracts the lunkers. Other lures include crankbait, plastic worm, pencilbait, spinnerbait, swisher, backtail jig, minnow, jig-and-pork bait, grub, vibrating line, tubebait, spinner, crayfish, and buzzbait. You can catch a variety of fish in this game, but only the three species of black bass (largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted) can be weighed in and kept in the live well.

To get really good at catching fish, you must consider weather conditions, how far (and in what style) you want to cast the reel and how powerfully you want to reel the fish in. Other options, features, and variables to consider include line tension and slack, water temperature, lure position and color, and which side you wish to face when reeling in a fish. After you get a bite, you must fight the fish, using techniques such as swinging the rod left or right or pulling up quickly on the rod to set the hook. A color meter will show you the strength level of the fish or the angler.

The action in Bassin's Black Bass takes place on two different screens. The lake map screen provides you with an overhead view of the boat on the lake, and the casting screen is where the actual fishing takes place. When it is time to weigh in, you must maneuver your boat back to the dock. The top three anglers will get special recognition.

Black Bass: Lure Fishing is a 1992 video game for the Game Boy, which was ported to the North American and European Game Boy Color in 1999.

There are only two lakes to fish at and a limited set of lures; unlike the Super NES video game Super Black Bass. Casting is done on an overhead view with a meter for the direction and another meter for the shadow of the fish. Trout, pike, catfish, and the infamous black bass can all be caught in this game.

The Game Boy Color version allows players to play against 99 AI-controlled fishermen. Tournament hours are twelve non-real time hours long and all locations are fictional. Each game originally came with a 40-page instruction manual and a precautions booklet. Both versions of the game notify players when they have lost their lure and/or their fish through a text-based message. Once a player runs out of a certain kind of fishing lure, it cannot be recovered until the next gameplay.

The most beautiful picture you've ever seen in a video game! Two fishermen drop their lines into a bay full of golden sunfish. All you have to do is hook 'em and land 'em. Easy, huh? Not so fast! A big black shark is right there at the surface waiting to snarf up your catch. Go deep for the big fish or play it safe with the small fry near the surface. But keep pulling 'em in as fast as you can, because the first player to catch his limit is the winner in FISHING DERBY by Activision!

If you don't have the time or inclination to go to the lake, but you feel like catching a few fish, you may want to try Super Black Bass, a fishing title that lets you compete for the prestigious title of Super Bass Champion. There are five different types of fish that you can catch: blue gill, rainbow trout, catfish, northern pike and, of course, black bass.

Super Black Bass plays by the rules of professional tournament fishing. Hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and you can't be late to the weigh-in or you will be penalized. There is a five bass maximum allowed in the livewell, and you must avoid No Fishing areas, such as the spawning pool and the dock.

There are four different tournaments in which to compete: Local Amateur Tournament, Amateur Bass Championship, Pro Bass Circuit and Super Bass Championship. Your goal in each tournament is to have the highest accumulative bass weight.

To catch a fish, you must choose lure type and color, set the hook, cast your line (overhand or flip) and wait for a nibble. Then you must reel in the line, which can consist of reeling quickly, swinging the rod strongly, pulling the rod up, thumbing the line, reeling in instantly, cutting the line and more. When casting a line, you view the game from a first person perspective, peering over the shoulder of the onscreen angler. When piloting the boat (in order to find a good fishing spot), retrieving the lure or fighting the fish, the viewpoint switches to overhead.

You have in your tacklebox eight lures from which to choose: pencil bait, popper, swisher, frog, spinnerbait, crankbait, rubber jug and plastic worm. There are two types of fishing points, surface and underwater. Onscreen data provides information such as line length, lure depth, line tension, fish strength, angler strength, weather conditions, water temperature. There is even a fish finder, which is an electronic device that uses sonar to detect fish.

Super Black Bass features four different lakes: Skywater Lake, which is a small, shallow mountain lake; Clear Lake, which is large and manmade; Lake Murphy, an old, shallow lake with murky waters; and Bluestone Lake, a wide, field lake with docks and bridges. A password feature lets you save your progress.
