In Alleyway, the object of the game is to hit the descending ball with the paddle at the bottom of the screen so that it rises up to demolish the blocks at the top of the screen. When all the blocks on the screen are demolished, the stage is cleared and the game progresses to the next stage. If all 32 stages are cleared, the game finishes in a fanfare. On the other hand, when the paddle fails to make contact with the ball a miss occurs and the number of paddles is decreased by one. If a miss occurs when the number of paddles has reduced to zero, that's the end of the game.

The player controls a small pad, known as the "vaus" space vessel, which prevents a ball from falling from the playing field, attempting to bounce it against a number of bricks. The ball striking a brick causes the brick to disappear. When all the bricks are gone, the player goes to the next level, where another pattern of bricks appear. There are a number of variations (bricks that have to be hit multiple times, flying enemy ships, etc.) and power-up capsules to enhance the vaus (expand your vaus, multiply the number of balls, equip a laser cannon, break directly to the next level), but the main game play remains the same.

At round 33, the final stage, the player will take on the game's boss, "Doh". Once a player reaches round 33, he must defeat Doh with his remaining number of vauses in reserve; if not: game over. In other words, there are no continues on the final round.

A long period of time has passed....and the dimension-controlling force "Doh" has again come back to life.

Occupying the huge space ship "Xorg", it has entered our universe from a different dimension.

"Mixtec" arkanoid type space ship has launched the craft "Vaus 2" to make a preemptive attack on "Xorg"....

Similar to the original but with more power-ups and harder puzzle to break through.

Arkanoid - Revenge of Doh (a.k.a Arkanoid 2) is an arcade game released by Taito in 1987 as a sequel to Arkanoid.

Revenge of Doh differs from its predecessor with the introduction of "Warp Gates". Upon completion of a level or when the Break ("B") pill is caught, two gates appear at the bottom of the play area, on either side. The player can choose to go through either one of the gates - the choice will affect which version of the next level is provided. The fire-button is only used when the Laser ("L") or Catch ("C") pill is caught.

The game also features two new features for bricks. Notched silver bricks, like normal silver bricks, take several hits to destroy. However, after a short period of time after destruction, they regenerate at full strength. Fortunately, clearing a level does not require that any notched bricks be destroyed. Also, some bricks move from side to side as long as their left and/or right sides are not obstructed by other bricks.

Arkanoid: Doh it Again gives the original Arkanoid an audiovisual facelift, while keeping the sweet and simple gameplay intact; guide a tubular ship along the bottom of the screen to deflect a perpetually moving ball into enemies or blocks at the top of the screen, destroying them. Some blocks yield power-up capsules, endowing your ship with shield or laser capabilities, extra lives, lengthening it, and more. A total of 99 levels are included, with nine bosses to defeat, multiple two-player modes and an Edit Mode for creating original levels. The only thing missing is a paddle controller, somewhat hindering the control.

The mysterious enemy known as 'DOH' has returned to seek vengeance on the 'Vaus' space vessel. The player must once again take control of the Vaus and overcome many challenges in order to destroy DOH once and for all.

An update of the popular 1986 original, Revenge of Doh sees the player battle through 34 rounds, taken from a grand total of 64. Revenge of Doh differs from its predecessor with the introduction of "Warp Gates". Upon completion of a round or when the Break ('B') pill is caught, two gates appear at the bottom left and bottom right of the play area respectively, the Vaus is then taken through one of the gates - the choice will affect which version of the next round is provided. The fire-button is only used when the Laser ('L') or Catch ('C') pill is caught.

The game also features two new features for bricks. Notched silver bricks, like normal silver bricks, take several hits to destroy. However, after a short period of time after destruction, they regenerate at full strength. Fortunately, clearing a level does not require that any notched bricks to be destroyed. Also, some bricks move from side to side as long as their left and/or right sides are not obstructed by other bricks.

The game features a mini-boss in the form of a giant brain, which will help you practice for DOH. You must aim for the brain's mouth to defeat it.

There are six rows of rocks to deal with. The game starts with a six-storied platform and the player loses one platform per row of rocks cleared. The player scores points for those rocks they prevent from reaching the ground. The farther the row of rocks, the smaller and faster they become. The ultimate goal is to get enough points so that the player can continue the game should they lose their first one.

This is an "Arkanoid"-type game with a few twists. Instead of controlling a paddle, you control the ball itself by altering its momentum using the joystick. Various blocks (squares, triangles, and special blocks containing powerups) advance down from the top of the screen. The player dies when the ball goes down through a hole in the bottom of the screen, or if the blocks reach the bottom of the screen.

A Breakout clone (also known as a Breakout-style) game is a sub-class of the "bat-and-ball" genre. Block kuzushi (literally block destruction) is the name given in Japan to these games. However, this is a generic name referring to the genre (similar to a tennis game being called Tennis). The games titled Block Kuzushi are all distinct games and should not be considered as a series.

BreakThru! is a tile-matching puzzle video game released for the Game Boy (amongst other platforms) in 1994.

In the game, the player must move the cursor amongst a grid of different colored squares. All squares must be "removed", and squares can only be removed if they are directly touching two or more squares of the same color. Once squares are removed, blocks then shift downward and either to the left or right, to fill in the blanks. The game ends when either all blocks are removed, or time has run out.

If the player comes to a point in which none of the remaining square match, a few options remain. A few "special items" help clear out blocks that don't necessarily match, such as an airplane block that eliminates a full line of square in the direction it is pointed in, or a block of dynamite that blows up every square touching it. Additionally, the player can also chose to drop new, randomly generated squares into the equation.

In Breakout, there is a wall of bricks along the top of the screen and your goal is to destroy the entire wall one brick at a time! To do this, you control a paddle at the bottom of the screen which is used to reflect a bouncing ball into the bricks. When the ball hits a brick, it will destroy it. You start with five balls, and the game ends when all five fall off the bottom of the screen. Also included are several game variations, including breakthru (the ball will go straight through bricks instead of bouncing back), timed breakout (you have a time limit to gain as many points as you can), and invisible breakout (the bricks are only visible for a short while after one of them is hit).

Updated version of the classic Breakout and based on the Pong, Breakout features the player controlling a paddle. The purpose is to clear the playing field of all of the bricks by rebounding a ball against the surfaces. If the player clears two levels, then the player is treated to eternity of the ball bouncing against an empty playing field unless they reset.
