One of the most popular Jaguar games and was exclusive to the system when it was released. Alien vs. Predator, or AVP, was set to be released at as a launch title for the Jaguar, but it was unfortunately delayed for a year. This first person shooter, in which you may choose to play as a Space Marine, Alien, or Predator, was probably responsible for selling a number of Jag consoles by itself.

December 2049 - an alien armada assaults the Sol System. Using data gathered from a captured alien cruiser, you mission is to board the enemy's main battle cruiser and disable all sixteen of its main plasma nodes. To prepare you for the fight ahead, the Battle Frenzy chip (code name Bloodshot) is implanted into your neural net, which will turn you into the ultimate killing machine.
A first-person 3D shooter that bears a strong resemblance to Wolfenstein 3D. Walk around, blow stuff up, kill the bad guys, avoid the traps - pretty standard fare by now.

An under-powered port of the PC classic, Doom for the Super NES suffers from choppy player movement, heavily pixelated graphics, grainy visuals and slow gameplay. Less egregious, but still annoying, the floor and ceiling textures are totally absent, and many of the wall textures and sound effects are missing. From a practical standpoint, the worst thing about the game is its confounding lack of battery back-up and/or password capabilities. One welcome aspect of this version is that it lets players restart the current level at any time. Other positives include music that is faithful to the original, and smooth strafing controls (thanks to the SNES controller's nifty L and R "shoulder" buttons). Super NES owners, unforunately thy Doom has come.

The most famous personage in the DOS shooter genre makes its way to the Genesis in this rare and unique release! This utilizes a specially designed 16-bit game engine in order to faithfully reproduce all of the fun and mayhem from the original. Licensed by Tec Toy and produced totally in Brazil, Duke Nukem 3D is the most ambitious port ever attempted for the Genesis. It's the same plot, levels, weapons, and monsters as the original. An army of aliens has taken over Los Angeles, so Duke deals with them as only he can - kill 'em all, and let God sort 'em out! Do you have the balls to play such an intense game? (loosely translated from the Tec Toy press release)
Well, it's unique, I must say. I'm surprised Tec Toy managed to pull it off at all. What do I think? Yes - the graphics stink, the sound sample tranfer is limited, and the levels are nothing like the original. Yes, it's pretty much the Zero Tolerance game engine with Duke3D graphics and sound grafted on top. At least they carried on the Sega tradition of leaving in the violence (guts go everywhere after a RPG hit) and the style is there, if not the feel. It's worth the look, but don't expect an exact clone of the IBM PC original - after all, we're talking about limited 16-bit hardware here, folks.

MechWarrior is a Mech Sim game, developed by Beam Software and published by Activision, which was released in 1993.
Mechwarrior revolves around three basic elements of play. The player can travel around an accurate map of the Inner Sphere negotiating contracts with the five Great Houses. Depending on the players actions, his mercenary unit will develop a reputation with each house which can bring about larger and more lucrative missions. A negative reputation can also be created if the player fights against a house in several missions. In this situation players will find that house no longer is willing to negotiate a contract.
The second element revolves around the battlemechs within the game. Battlemechs can be bought and sold or repaired from combat damage. In this way, the player can act as a merchant and acquire mechs on one planet and sell them on another planet to gain profit. Mechwarriors, too can be hired at the local bar with ranging levels of skill. As above, the unit's reputation will determine the quality of potential recruits.
Finally, there is the combat simulation. Depending on the contract for a mission, the player must meet certain criteria ranging from defense of a facility to outright destruction of the enemy. Combat is shown in first person from the cockpit of a battlemech. The game's engine uses simple vector based graphics for the actual combat.
The three elements combined to create a unique game that was part RPG, part economic, and part simulation.

Story: The game is set in early 2022, predating the storyline of the Nintendo 64 game by one year. Joanna Dark is still a student at the Carrington Institute and she is eager to complete the final stages of her training. After completing her training successfully, scoring an A++, Daniel Carrington sends her to her first ever mission with the Carrington Institute: She must destroy an illegal cyborg manufacturing facility, deep into the South American jungle.
Gameplay: Perfect Dark is an action game that is presented from an overhead perspective, similar to Konami's Metal Gear Solid for the Game Boy Color. Joanna Dark, the playable main character, can move and shoot in eight directions and must initially complete a training mode where she will be provided a fixed sequence of challenges so that the player learns the game mechanics. These mechanics include the use of stealth, in which players are challenged to kill enemies by sneaking up behind them without making noise (e.g. running or reloading weapons), a memory type game that involves pressing various buttons in a specific order to open up doors, and a target range in a first-person view for shooting practise, among others.

A devastating World War ravaged the Earth for 70 agonizing years beginning at the end of the 20th Century. During the later stages of the war, an automated battle system named "K.O.S." (Killer Operating System) was developed. Central to the "K.O.S." program was a highly sophisticated neural net, which included the compilation of all biotechnology data available. This made the "K.O.S." an extremely efficient and highly adaptable weapon, able to rapidly determine and generate the most effective response to any external threat. It became known simply as KAOS.
KAOS turned the tides of war, and the war ended with the establishment of the "Commonwealth of Earth". The new government promised to establish an utopia, and its first move was to order the destruction of all the weapons of war. KAOS was ordered shut down and all other weapon systems destroyed. The world rejoiced and weapons were torn apart at a record pace. What no one realized was that KAOS had became a sentient being, with only one goal: SURVIVAL! It turned off all external signs of operation, and began secretly creating a massive army of weapons and brutal creatures. Without warning, KAOS released its armies on the world to destroy its new found enemy, all of humanity! The only weapon of war remaining was a lone Tech-Wing Fighter!!
Your job, should you choose to accept it, is to pilot the Tech-Wing Fighter, enter KAOS and destroy it from within! The fate of humanity is in your able hands!!
Alarm condition red!! This is a Red Alarm!!!

Silent Debuggers is a sophisticated, high-tech dungeon crawler and first-person shooter that you'll forget about the minute you shut it off. Assuming the role of a space "debugger", your mission is to exterminate aliens in six levels of a space station, preventing it from self-destruction. In the cheesy intro, an androgynous redhead introduces himself as your partner. "I'm Leon. Be my buddy. Debuggers do the dirty work and I love it." Is it just me, or does that sound like something you'd hear in a gay bar?
