The Legend of the Mystical Ninja (AKA Ganbare Goemon: Yukihime Kyuushutsu Emaki), is a light-hearted action-adventure game for 1-2 players by Konami, and was released for the Super NES in 1992.

As with many action/platformer video games, the plot is minimal except for revealing future stages. In this game, the players control Kid Ying and Dr. Yang. After noticing some odd occurrences in their hometown, Kid Ying and Dr. Yang decide to investigate. They soon discover that Princess Yuki has been kidnapped by the Otafu army. To save the princess, the protagonists must travel through different regions of Japan to find clues about the army and the location of the princess.

Although both characters have different weapons and learn different attacks, they are functionally useridentical. Their primary short-range weapons have three levels and are improved in range by acquiring grey cats left by defeated enemies. Both characters are also equipped with thrown weapons from the beginning (which decreases money as you use it) and can acquire bombs by purchasing them in stores or by winning them in mini-games.

Most people will recognize the main character, Goemon, as he appeared in the Ganbare Goemon (Legend of the Mystical Ninja) games on the Nintendo Super Famicom and Nintendo 64. Goemon is based on Ishikawa Goemon, an infamous outlaw in 16th century Japan. Some stories tell of Goemon becoming a criminal after stealing from his cruel master and killing his pursuers. Later he becomes a merchant in Kyoto and Osaka by day and a thief by night. Whilst some remember him as simply a thief, others celebrate him as being a Japanese Robin Hood, robbing from the rich to give to the poor.
