Battle Out Run is Sega's answer to Taito's Chase H.Q.. You drive a red sports car and must apprehend eight target vehicles in selected cities across the USA, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and New York. You have to do this while avoiding yellow cars and other obstacles. Halfway through the eight stages, you enter a shop that allows you to upgrade your car and get some nitros, as long as you have money, and you will be rewarded if you apprehend the vehicles. This can be done by bumping into them to disable them.

You simply have to zoom down the road, avoiding the traffic, catch up with the drug dealer's car and stop him. Tiresome Out Run rehash.

Out Run is a ground-breaking racing game in which the player drives a red Ferrari Testarossa through a number of colourful European locations, trying to reach each end-of-level checkpoint before the tight time limit expires.

Each of the game's stages is packed with civilian traffic that must be carefully avoided, as players try to negotiate the game's twisting, hilly roads.

At the end of every stage players are presented with a fork in the road, allowing them to chose which route they wish to take next. This was not the first time this feature had appeared (Tatsumi's 1983 racer, TX-1, was the first to introduce forked roads).

As well as being able to choose routes, players could also - via the game's "in-car radio" - choose one of three different catchy tunes to listen to while driving. The songs are 'Magical Sound Shower', 'Passing Breeze' and 'Splash Wave'.

In OutRun 2019 the road race is set in the future, but you get to drive a turbo-assisted rocket-powered car on a rather difficult track that has some new hazards not seen in the earlier entries.

OutRunners, again ported straight from the arcade - it's the classic OutRun revisited but adds a split-screen two-player head-to-head mode and gives you a small selection of cars to choose from - this is in most fans' opinion the best game of the Genesis series.

Out Run is a 2D third-person racing game. The player controls a car, a Ferrari Testarossa, from a rear third-person perspective. The player must race to the end of each stage as fast as possible against a time limit while avoiding traffic. At the end of each stage, the player is presented with a fork in the road where the player must choose one of two stages. The left route presents an easier stage, while the right offers a greater challenge. Passing through checkpoints awards the player with extra time. Once the timer reaches zero or the player completes the race, the game ends. In addition to the nonlinear game play, Out Run also offered the choice of music to listen to while driving, represented as radio stations.

High action road racing adventure. Tests your driving technique, speed and distance traveled over a rich variety of courses. Race at top speed towards the finish line. Enjoy such realistic features as acceleration, lane changes, diversified terrain, sudden curves, and much more.

There just isn't the feeling of speed in this coin-op conversion. Graphics are kept to a minimum and are very simplistic.

As the name suggests, levels in Out Run Europa are set across Europe, with the player passing road signs for places like Paris and Berlin. The player must escape from the police using a variety of vehicles, from the standard sports cars from Ferrari and Porsche to motorbikes and jet skis. Some levels arm the player with a weapon which can be used to destroy other vehicles.

Turbo Out Run takes you on a race across America. Along the way you will battle bumper to bumper with good guys and bad guys, police cars, Porsches and blown engines. Numerous scenes will take you through congested city streets, over snow and icy mountain passes and across sunbaked deserts. Drive daytime and night time - go for manual or auto gearbox selection, even customize your Ferrari F40 with High Grip Tires, but whatever else you do... use the Turbo booster power sparingly - THIS BABY'S HOT AND RARING TO GO!!

In Turbo OutRun, it's same useridea as before but this time you're in a race across the United States - not all that different gameplaywise, but one can note slight improvements in the game engine that would be more fully realized in later OutRun games.
