Recca was known for having high sprite counts while generally maintaining fast speeds. It was used in Naxat Soft's "Summer Carnival" competition in 1992.

By using a rom hack or cheat code, the Sega logo appears and explodes, then the Nintendo logo appears. ("Sega" and "Nintendo" are spelt with "?"s instead of "e"s.)

Arcade game based on the short-lived CBS television series starring Jan Michael-Vincent and Ernest Borgnine as a pair of mercenaries who flew a high-tech military helicopter on various and sundry missions.

Even the worst episode of Airwolf was better than this Xevious clone, which is lame, lame, lame. Definitely for bleary-eyed shoot 'em up fans only.

A typical shooter where you fly a space ship through many levels shooting at various enemies. There are shortcuts to different levels but it will cost you some points to use them. There are also some stores where you can buy power ups to help strengthen your ship. Fly fast and shoot often to complete your goal.

A terrific vertical shooter with some of the greatest graphics on the TurboGrafx-16. Although popular in Japan, it received less attention from the rest of the world. It skillfully straddles that fine line between exciting and chaotic by throwing just enough stuff at you at any particular moment. In addition to the main game, there are some entertaining "2 minute" and "5 minute" modes, which challenge you to maximize your score within these fixed periods of time.

Streaking across the galaxy at Mach 24, your squadron is suddenly confronted by the deadly superfleet from the ghastly planet of Ahm. Wave after wave of laser-firing Ahmins, against your five starfighters of Bravo Squadron. The glare of laser cannons pierces the darkness of space as your squadron shrieks overhead in tight formation at 24 times the speed of sound. Your ships can fire almost 300 rounds a minute. But only lightning reflexes and a sharpshooter's eye can save you as the Ahmins fly faster and faster. But a word of caution. Don't miss the enemy's shimmering mother ships. Because TacScan isn't just a game. It's interplanetary war!

You get to fly a Harrier jump jet against all kinds of foes in this port of the fair-to-middlin' arcade shoot 'em up.

Similar to Capcom's Area 88, but nowhere near as good.

Get ready to take part in the greatest helicopter battle of the century with THUNDER BLADE, the SEGA arcade hit!

You're the Gunship Gladiator. You fly the Thunder Blade chopper. Some say you're unstoppable. This mission will put you to the test!

The enemy has invaded your country. That makes you mad. So you're going to stop them... all by yourself! In cities... over deserts and oceans... in caves and through refineries... you're cutting loose with your cannons and dropping air-to-surface missiles from your skids.

They've got tanks, airpower and incredible super fortresses. But you have guts, a taste for glory... and the meanest fightin' copter in the sky!

There's a great game here just waiting to bust out. However, even the decent graphics can't hide that it has some dodgy collision detection.

This shoot 'em up series for the Genesis got a a lot of attention when it came out. It's your basic blast-any-thing-that-moves sci-fi side-scrolling shooter, but with a reputation for gaming excellence. Fairly decent R-Type clones that gets better as the series advances. Decent weapons, impressive graphics, intense gameplay.

Thunder Force 2, is the first game in the series for the G/MD and one of the few sequels that incorporated its ancestor into itself - the top-down down sequences are reminiscent of Bosconian, and the side-scrolling sequences smack strongly of R-Type.

In Thunder Force 3 the top-down view is gone, leaving only the side-scrolling game with better graphics and a slightly enhanced weapons system.
