After the initial familiar Sesame Street theme, the mini-games play out in eerie silence, and no one lets out a single peep save for Big Bird. Despite this spooky lack of noise, however, it's not hard to find yourself, even as a Mature Young Adult, arrested by the game for at least a couple of minutes. Even if your vocabulary no longer contains a majority of three-letter words, this game will remind you in a few quick rounds of edutainment why we still have them. If you're not going to use them, then surely someone else might able to. Someone ..... a little younger, perhaps?

Choose any one of four background scenes and start to add clip-art objects, furniture and free form design. The four scenes are:
-Outside a mushroom house
-Inside a mushroom house
-The River crossing
-Gargamel's Castle

Create any number of decorated scenarios and then use either controller to change into one of four characters: Smurf, Papa Smurf, Smurfette or Gargamel and play around in the graphic you have created. Characters are able to move left, right, up, down... jump and drop.

There is no method of saving your work, so it all disappears when the power goes off.

One of the better film-based titles ever released, Super Star Wars recreates the look, feel and sound of the popular space opera incredibly well. Armed with a blaster or a lightsaber and the ability to run, jump, duck, slide and roll, players blast Imperial Stormtroopers on Mos Eisley, battle aliens in the Cantina, attack Tie Fighters in the trenches of the Death Star, pilot a cannon-enhanced Landspeeder, and much more. Certain key scenes are missing (such as the trash compactor episode and the escape from the Death Star via the Millenium Falcon), but this is simply nitpicking as the game recreates the Star Wars experience incredibly well. Players begin as Luke Skywalker and will eventually control Han Solo and Chewbacca. The game has cool cut- scenes, excellent rotation and scaling effects, a CD-quality musical score, and authentic-sounding (if sparse) voice effects. Best of all, gameplay, in both the vehicle and platforming scenes, is rock solid (even though sliding is a bit awkward). The only real setbacks are frequent slowdown, a frustration-inducing lack of a save feature, and the fact that Princess Leia is not a playable character.

Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi follows closely the standard set by the first two Super Star Wars games, with the return of selectable characters (on specific levels), multiple playable characters and Mode 7 quasi-3D vehicle sequences. The controls are useridentical to the second game, and this installment also includes its predecessor's password save option. It loosely follows the plot of Return of the Jedi, although some of the levels aren't seen in the film at all, such as Luke Skywalker having to fight through the Death Star to get to Emperor Palpatine. In addition to the standard Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Chewbacca, new playable characters include Princess Leia Organa (in Boushh, Slave, and Rebel uniforms) and Wicket the Ewok. Bosses include the Jabba the Hutt's Palace door droid, the Rancor beast, Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine. Vehicle sequences include the Endor speeder bike chase, and a cruise in the Millennium Falcon.

The sequel to Super Star Wars, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back has fuzzier visuals than the original game, but the score, the voice effects, the graphics, and the action scenarios are superbly faithful to the film. Gameplay involves riding a Taun-Taun through a blizzard on Hoth, piloting a snowspeeder while battling AT-AT walkers, battling Boba Fett in Cloud City, facing Darth Vader in the Reactor, and much more. Once again, depending on the level, players control Luke Skywalker, Han Solo or Chewbacca, and once again there's a lot of running, jumping, shooting, and lightsabering. However, this time, thanks to a user-friendly password feature, there's far less frustration involved in trying to beat the game. Speaking of frustration, there are a number of blind jumps and cheap hits (from off screen enemies), but this doesn't spoil the overall greatness of the game.

Inspired by Shining Time Station, the popular children's television series, Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends was designed for children from three different age usergroup: four and younger, five to seven year olds, and eight years old and up. The game is composed of a series of reading adventures, jigsaw puzzles, sliding puzzles, and quizzes, all of which contain characters familiar to fans of the television series. These characters include Bertie the Bus, Harold the Helicopter, and Sir Topham Hatt, superintendent of the railways.

In addition to the educational games, there are action contests such as: Setting the Switches in which you guide Thomas to his destination by setting track switches; Let's Race, which pits Thomas in a race against either Bertie or Percy, the cheerful small engine; and Fixing the Tracks, in which you must construct tracks to help Thomas transport people and goods around the Island of Sodor.

Combination paint-and-activity program with cameos by Sonic the Hedgehog and various other characters from G/MD games designed to keep the younger set entertained.

Reminds me of a digital "big fun book," except that this one comes with its own crayons and paints. Not worth the trouble unless you have kids or are a serious G/MD cart collector. This is one the few titles for the console to support the Sega Mouse, and some versions came packaged with it.

Williams was one of the companies that pioneered the arcade game revolution, and many of its titles have now become the stuff of gaming legend. This multipack includes five of their most beloved titles: Joust, Robotron 2084, Sinistar, Defender, and Defender 2 -Stargate.

As faithful as arcade ports can be given the porting process and the limitations of the hardware. This was actually the first in a series of classic arcade multipacks planned for release. The others never made it beyond the discussion stage due to the death of the platform; however, they are available for several popular personal computers.
