V-Rally Championship Edition is a Driving game, developed by Velez & Dubail and published by Ocean, which was released in Europe in 1998.

A part of the V-Rally series, includes 4 licensed cars and 20 racing tracks from different countries with varying weather conditions.

There are two game modes, Arcade and Championship. In Arcade mode you simply need to finish a race in the allowed time. In Championship mode you race against other computer controlled cars to get to the finish line first.

This racing game depicts the Paris-Dakar Rally, one of the earliest to do so. One of the unique features at the time of release of Victory Run was that the vehicles required maintenance, in that the player could purchase upgrades between races.

This racing game challenges you to complete an eight-mile course within a set period of time. The track segments include everything from a French countryside to the Sahara desert, and the graphics are impressively smooth. There's nothing on the side of the road, but the distant scenery and the colorful skylines look great. As day turns to night, the lights go on in the buildings - a nice touch. The smooth scaling of oncoming cars and the rolling hills reminded me of Road Rash on the Genesis, but why are all of the vehicles so huge? My car looks like a toy compared to these other cars! Heck, even the motorcycles tower over me. And what's up with all the garbage trucks? Victory Run's gameplay just didn't do it for me.

Sega once again prove themselves to be kings of the racing genre with the superb and innovative "Virtua Racing". This was the first racing game to be fully rendered with shaded, filled polygon graphics (the first game to ever be rendered in filled polygons was Atari's incredible 1983 release, "I, Robot").

As well as the sublime graphics and superb playability, Virtua Racing also allowed players to switch camera views to suit their preferred style of play. The game features 3 well designed and varied courses; 'Big Forest', 'Bay Bridge' and 'Acropolis'.

Sega went to General Electric Aerospace (who made the first 3-D simulators for NASA in the 1960s) in 1991-92 for assistance to develop a CG platform architecture for their new experimental 3-D system, which later became known as the Sega Model 1 hardware. Virtua Racer was the game being written to find out how viable hardware 3-D games were, it was never designed to be released, but it was such a success internally they decided to actually release it.
