Well like I said, mario is only as cool as he is by association with luigi. Therefore I say again, MARIO!

Mario was the first game I ever played and to me he is maybe not a better character but the games in that series have always had tight, solid gameplay. Every Mario game in the series (main series at least) has been groundbreaking in some way shape or form (Super Mario Bros. was the biggest selling game, Mario 2 introduced a new style of gameplay, Mario 3 had some of the most fun gameplay I've ever known and is considered a classic of the medium and a crowning achievment, skip to Mario 64, first sucsessful 2-D to 3-D game that introduced new ideas to the series and is also considered one of the greatest games made) this series has alot of classic games. though, I like Sonic alot, Sonic the Hedgehog being one of the first games I remember playing, the series and the character have gone into a decline, Sonic isn't cool anymore, he doesn't run fast, the music in the series isn't catchy anymore, and he's no longer the "Dude with 'tude" Sonic to me was the perfect 90's character and the new games just aren't the same anymore.

Sonic rules and even though i concede that Mario's games are good he is only a fat plumber who is out to save a random princess girlfriend for some reason, and on the way he gets high on a variety of drugs including mushrooms and strange stars

well, i'll try to make this short. when sonic came out, mario was a huge hit, but then a lot of people moved on to sonic, so basically, sonic won, until they came out with new mario games, and as more sonic games came out, people started to come back to mario, so overall, mario won the war. and me personnaly, i think mario is better, but luigi rules all! ;D

Hey Johnston (naruto-addict) its me Myles, your just saying that because you never actually played the original Sonic games and personally I think Shadow kind of ruined the series with all of the vehicles and weapons. Sonic never had anything to do with weapons before and it was just a pure, fun lightning fast platforming experience and if you read my Sonic post you will learn how cool Sonic really was.
