Neat Add-On, Bad First Game

Many people aren't too impressed with the PlayStation Move right now. The technology may be better than the Wii's motion control, but the first batch of Move games doesn't look all that interesting, not to mention that the device has been criticized for being too late; it's basically a peripheral controller for a four year-old system. But this early on, all we can do is give it the benefit of the doubt. And while it's fun to give Sony guff, Sega and Nintendo have made many more "innovative" add-ons to their systems that took some time to be properly used, if at all.

But even if the technology was sound, the more important half -- the games -- also tended to suffer. The first games to demonstrate the gaming gadgets you'll read about here didn't exactly hit the mark and become the best examples of what the hardware could do. And sometimes, that was the only game you had, as other developers didn't see the need to make games for a device that probably wouldn't sell well anyway, which would keep their profits low, too. Let this gallery of slip-ups, overestimation and just plain failure serve as educational evidence of a hopefully bygone era.
