Fight Night: Round 4

I picked this game up yesterday, and I have to say, I am extremely impressed. The gameplay is some of the best I've seen, and the total control punch system, where players use the right analog stick to control punches, is perfect. The graphics take complete advantage of this generation's hardware, and I felt pain with some of the punches. You get to hear the news about other sports after fights, VIA ESPN radio. You guys should check this out.

Yeah I really wanted to play this but they removed the normal button controls. I personally hate the analog punch system and I won't be getting this until the free DLC comes out allowing normal buttons.
It does look awesome though.

Re: Fight Night: Round 4

The game looks pretty awesome from what I have seen. I will probably pick it up at some point.

I have to disagree a bit DB, as I got used to the punches with the analog stick. The thing that makes me kind of glad about the buttons being gone, is that everyone will be on the same level online. Unfortunately in FNR3 one was almost forced to use to the buttons to compete online because the buttons were a bit quicker. If everyone used buttons I wouldn't mind, but having both just seemed to be unbalanced somehow.

I hope the new game is good, though. From what I have seen it looks pretty sweet and is supposed to be more strategic than even FNR3.

Re: Fight Night: Round 4

I'm loving it so far. The total control took me about 30 minutes to adjust too, but it feels so natural.

Not true. I frequent the xbox360 forums a lot and there's tons of people like me who just can't get used to the analog controls. I think that's the main reason EA caved and announced the free DLC.
I tried to get used to the new system in FN3 but I just couldn't do the punches I wanted, when I wanted. It was very frustrating for me.

Another thing I heard on those forums was how people still spam punches online regardless of the control set up. It's one of the biggest issues people complain about. So imo button controls don't matter, some people just like to spam and some people prefer skills.

Hopefully they do what Mario Kart Wii did. You can see who's using the wheel and who's using a GC controller. That would allow people to select what type of player they face. Everyones happy then.

To be honest I really don't care about playing it online, I just wanna enjoy my game the way I wanna play it. I don't think that's asking too much.

Well if the spamming is still an issue than I guess it's no better after all in that department. I had problems doing certain hay makers in FNR3 with the stick, but I kind of liked the feel overall.

That's a fair point. If there was a way to just play people of your choosing that would be cool.
