Please stop using the word "retard" as an insult

The other day I was looking at posts on here, and I was bothered by how the word "retard" is thrown around at people. I feel that it should be stopped. It just bothers me that people here get incredibly annoyed if I were to use the word "gay" as an insult, but you guys can make fun of mentally disabled people and use it as an insult. So please,stop.

I usually use the word retard in its actual definition, as in being held back or not as capable.

I agree with Tenser that the actual definition of the word is not bad. It's just an English version of the Latin word, "Retadare" which just means slow or delayed in general. It does not necessarily refer to a mentally disabled person although some people use it for that.

In my opinion, when someone calls a video game gay, that usually means its cheesey or cheap. I don't think they're intention is to descriminate against a video game sexual preference.

I rented Dynasty warriors 6 today, It's fun but whats the point when on the first level, Retard lu bu comes and kills you by the flick of the wrist on level 1.

About the topic, I only use retard when I'm angry. I'm not intentionally making fun of handicapped people I'm just reverting back to my childhood where we said stuff like that all the time. If I think of it I usually change the word.

I dont see why people fling Gay around as an insult.. its not..unless your calling people homosexuals which is just plain mean and offensive.

Gay is actually good.. since it means.. keenly alive and exuberant : having or inducing high spirits <a bird's gay spring song>
I wish people would look in the dictionary when using insults.. that is the requirement in my home. do not use the word if you don't know what it means..
then again English slang has managed to make many decent good words look like insults...

I hate people who use the word, as my little sister was born a healthy baby, with a lack of oxygen. When the doctor gave her oxygen, he put it too high and caused brain damage. the doctor said she won't live past 6. she's 22 now.

ah.. I miss the old days.. when you could just Fwap people on the head,, and just call them Dumbass and be done with it^^. My only complaint for people calling other Gay or whatever is because they dont use the word right.. I just want people to know what words mean before they are used.

Tch.. wihs words would stop changing meanings... there are just so many random situations.. such as seeign a puppy with a group of people around the corner, I walk over and say, "hey dog." they look at me and say "sup.."
