I'm not getting a Wii for Christmas, apparantly. It's on order, and it may be here by New Year, or maybe not. It's all up to Play.com...

I'm getting $50 from dad, and $50 from mum. That's all I know about, anyway. I want to buy the fourth and fifth Artemis Fowl books because I did, eventually, have to return them to the school library.
I had them on indefinite loan but had to return them for the end of the school year, especially since I'm not going back to that school next year...

As in a mobile? (Americans call them cells, right?)
I have a mobile...it's my mum's old one and all the keys are kinda sticky...then again, she was the one who insisted I have a mobile for emergencies...I didn't want one! :P

I have a physical addiction to it. I have tried and have never found anything that I thought was too hot. The hottest thing I have tried is around 650,000 65% as hot as the link. I can eat 650,000 straight but I think I would have to dilute anything stronger than that. Just the thought of it makes my mouth water. Emmm.

[ooc]so if that has a 650,000 rating, what would you say an nice spicy buffalo sauce has...cause that's really enough for me.
I must be missing that masochistic gene you have there D.[/ooc]
But for me and my xmas, I already got my Wii, so I'm expecting a 3rd remote and maybe a game - preferably DBZ:BT2 or Super swing golf

Scoville units are measured by mixing the pepper or sauce with sugar water. 1 million means that you have to mix 1 million drops of sugar water for every drop of sauce to not be able to notice the heat.
To give you a scale Tobasco Sauce is 7500. That means to make the linked sauce above as tame as Tobasco Sauce you would need to mix it a ration of 1:133 with sugar water.
Capsaicin, the active ingredient in peppers, triggers endorphins which are addicting. Same as runner high. To get enough to trigger the high you first have to build up your endurance which is not too hard. Just eat peppers that you think are mildly hot with dinner everyday and your personal definition of mildly hot will increase everyday.
Wii is a horrible name. The following sound like a nightmare marketing strategy.

When you have kids, you celebrate Christmas for them. So for Christmas, I have no idea what I'm getting besides big hugs from the wife and kids. For me that's enough:mrgreen:. But I'm older, so my preferences are different.
I have had my tolerance for hot food increase since I got married. My wife loves spicy food, problem is where we are, there aren't too many restaurants to accommodate us.

Sorry to have hijacked the xmas thread. The Czechs think bell peppers are spicy. It is difficult to get anything spicy here and impossible to get very spicy without importing. That is what I miss most about America. Comedy clubs are second.

I know a prof who extracts pure capsaicin, then soaks peanuts in it, and gives them away. I'll send you some if mine are still good. Do peanuts go bad?
I enjoy Habanero hot sauce. I like spicy, but hate things that are just hot with no flavor.

I'm asking for a couple of "Revolution" titles; DBZ:BT2 and Marvel:UA. I'm also asking for a couple of DVDs, but mainly the Dungeons & Dragons: The Complete Series boxset. It's loaded with extras and just looks amazing. :kakashi:

The problem with using scovilles is the way in which they test it and it's only accurate up to 855,000 scovilles.
In New York you need to be at least 18 and sign a waver before buying any product over 200,000 scoville. It also must come with a warning label that states:
Quote:
|
WARNING: Use this product one drop at a time. Keep away from eyes, pets and children. Not for people with heart or respiratory problems.
|
DA' BOMB makes a sauce that's estimated at 1.5 million scoville called FINAL ANSWER. That makes this sauce 10% pure capsaicin. (Pure capsaicin is estimated at 15 million scoville.)

We have to sign a waver to buy it here, too. I have tried Final Answer and I didn’t have a good outcome. I was at a family outing thing and my Uncle's/Wife's/Brother had this hot sauce. (What would the relation be? Uncle-in-law?) Anyway, being the smallest in my family I wanted to be like the big kids and try the hot sauce. I was told to have the ring of the rim of the bottle but I ended up getting that and a big drop in the middle, which was twice as much as anyone else had and their eyes were watering like crazy. I was so red in the face it was unbelievable. That’s when I figured out that milk is a great de-spicifyer.
[OOC]I don't see why people would buy that stuff unless as a gag or something. It's bad news and would murder any food flavor it comes in contact in.[/OOC]

You're thinking about it the wrong way Coz. The reason you have to sign the waver is because it's a food additive, not fit to be consumed solely. The more powerful the hot sauce the better because the idea is to be able to add heat without altering the flavor. The stronger the sauce, the less you have to add to reach the desired heat level you wish.
Say you're making a salsa. You mix together some fresh chopped tomatoes, some green onions, some yellow bell peppers, some shitakes and a little of your favorite India Pale Ale (yes, beer). Let it sit overnight. Now this is going to have some amazing flavor and color to it, but it's going to be as hot as Frosty's bloomers. Toss in just a few drops of some really good hot sauce and you'll barely change the flavor, if at all, but will give you the heat a good salsa deserves.
Edit: I'd also recommend adding a bit of dried mustard to it if you're going to give it a shot. (Easy on the beer, no one likes a soupy salsa.)

Then why such a big bottle? The one I saw had a good 1000 drops in it. I guess your right but you can only add so much heat into stuff. It would take a lifetime to use it up.
No cilantro in that recipe?I love cilantro in salsa.

I'm allergic to cilantro actually. If I see a recipe I like that calls for cilantro I always have to substitute Italian Parsley for it.

That kinda sucks. Not a huge difference between them so it's not like your missing out on much...
*Ahem*
OK lets see here, my Xmas list... It’s pretty much a bunch of "Revolution" crap.
Well I'm gonna get a "Revolution" We got a ticket, we just need to wait for a shipment to the store.
With that, DBZ:BT2 and Zelda:TP
And my brother is going to get me some computer speakers since I'm still surfing the web deaf.
That’s all 100% gonna happen cause I already seen the speakers and games.
I also want an extra remote+'cuck and I might get the wi-fi some time next year but not now because I got to save all the cash I get to ration it off till another special event or until I GET A JOB!....Which ever comes first.
