So now that the Wii has
real arcade games on Virtual Console and can run all your games off of SD Cards as of 12 hours ago, it's time to dismiss that crap as "old news" and start whining like barnyard animals about what kind of games we want to see on VC Arcade next. Ah, it's like late 2006 all over again!
Here's some fuel for the fire: Thanks to an article on
Famitsu.com, we now have Namco's VC Arcade lineup for the foreseeable future -- in Japan, mind you. Peep this list:
Assault
Burning Force
Cosmo Gang the Puzzle
Cosmo Gang the Video
Cyber Sled
Dragon Buster
Dragon Saber
Dragon Spirit
Emeraldia
Finest Hour
Galaga '88
Gaplus
Genpei Toumaden
Hopping Mappy
Knuckle Heads
Mappy
Marvel Land
Numan Athletics
Pac-Mania
Phelios
Rolling Thunder
Sky Kid
Solvalou
Splatterhouse
Starblade
The Return of Ishtar
The Tower of Druaga
Wonder Momo
Xevious
Youkai Dochuuki
I bolded the games that are already available as their home system ports -- it's not too surprising that they'd show up
again in their original versions, since redundancy is common on the Japanese VC (see: both the Genesis and SuperGrafx versions of
Ghouls 'N Ghosts). There may be a chance we'll see some repeats, too -- I'm looking at you,
Xevious -- but I wouldn't "pre-rage" about it yet, since the majority of the games weren't ever in the US anyway, and some of the games that are coming here are just kooky choices, like Emeraldia. Besides, Namco may be planning to upset us in a completely different way, like releasing
Pac-Man and
New Rally-X instead.
Commence whining... now.
