well even though I don't really lie to say it, I did tell you so, sega is makin a new... welll not completely a console but it it's a start, in any case I was researching n any new consoles coming out and I happened to find anew hanheld console announced and a regular console, now in this case one of these consoles I foud just happeed to be called Sega Vision, so there you have it, not exactly a complete handheld console, but it's a start, Still don't believe me?

Extra: if you're wondering about the other console I found, then all I know is it is calld zeebo, created by a new company called zeebo inc. and it is schedule to be released n summer this year, here is a link, I don't think it will be too successful though :P

1. Wikipedia is not a credible source.
2. Even if this was true Sega would not come out of it with a profit. Sony couldn't hold on. Sega's last two handhelds (GameGear and Nomad) failed. Nintendo also owns the handheld market. A company that has found large success putting its software on Nintendo's systems would be wise not to attempt to become a competitor again.

but all good points, and I will see if I can find a different source also, but my pc literally took an hour just to get connected to the internet today, I don't know, this pc is going to crash soon

While Wikipedia is not a credible source on it's own it does include links to the original source in nearly every article and those links are generally credible. So if in doubt, click the links in Wikipedia for the original source. Looks like this is real. It is not trying to compete with Gameboy. It is going after the iPod and PDA market. Looks like it will fail horribly.

@ kong, it does say it runs java mini-games, and tha is why I said it may be a start, but with all the consoles trying to make it into the gaming industry and failing, all I have to say is... Wow

but it looks like this zeebo thing may take it's place, I'm already interested in it, but seriously look at these gaming generations, and look how many failed attempts at handhelds and consoles there were, such as;

Neo geo, 3DO, Turbografx16, gizmondo, virtual boy, amiga cd32... well just look for yourselves;

lets see, it isn't a dreamcast like you said and i and several others told you that sega was coming out with this handheld when you are going on about the next dreamcast.

i do tell my college kids all of the time about the dangers of using wikipedia as a source, but kong is correct, if used correctly, it can give you a reference and lead you to the correct source.
you should never site something directly from wikipedia, or else you might get something like this. See the last sentence in the history section.

maybe so jim, but some one brought up the possibillity of this sega handheld, and I did agree that it would be the first step if anything, and of course this may not pick off the ground, and I don't care much, but if it does come out, I was right.

no, you are wrong, you said sega was coming out with a new dreamcast console. the vision is neither. calling it a gaming system is a complete misnomer. the handheld is not going to led to a new console for sega because this thing is not designed for game...it plays flash mini games...so does a cell phone. for sega's sake, i hope this is step into a new market works for them and they aren't embarassing themselves by attaching their name to a cheap chinese clone.

people like to take cracks at Wikipedia's trustworthiness but it took just over two hours for someone to correct your vandalism.

still, try turning a research paper citing wikipedia and you are going to get laughed at.

don't get me wrong, i love wikipedia, i use it often as a quick reference, but you can't use it as a credible source, as i said earlier, if you find a fact that you like, check the source that it came from and reference that instead.

Well of course. I just hate when people disregard wikipedia all together. It's a great resource and it's a step in the right direction. The bigger it gets the better it gets. More people = more people checking facts.

I only think it was fixed quickly because its a popular page. I would imagine if it was something more obscure it could have lasted weeks.

Also, a lot of "facts" on Wiki lack citations at all.

Yeah I know. A lot of pages have the citation needed thing. I just ignore anything without a source.
Like I said the more popular wikipedia becomes the faster things will get checked. I think it's impossible to deny how impressive the idea is, it just need fine tuning.

well... I actually think that that t.v. tuner thing would be cool, for the 12 hour drive to shuswap 3 times a year

although, it will only be 4 hours once we move ;D

I don't think I'm going to trust this just yet, if the sega vision is successful for a year I may get it... maybe... ... ...

Well if you see anything like Citation needed or (source?) then don't trust it. As far as I know the only ones you can trust are ones that look like this.[5] Even then you should check the bottom of the page to see if the source is credible. I've checked before and the link was dead or looked suspicious. Things get overlooked since there's so much info to go through.
I'd help edit wikipedia but I'm far to lazy to deal with that.

I don't know, I think so, it said it will start in brazil, then hopefully it will come here, it looks neat though, although I just bought a 360 and am playing left 4 dead, it's awesome!
