Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
I was curious to see if and when nintendo is going to make a handheld gamecube, so I googled it and came across this article, mot exactly sure if it is a true story, or made up but it might interest you.
http://www.videogamesblogger.com/200...ember-2008.htm
now it says november 2008 so that is why I'm not sure but, I'm pretty ticked it say that they aren't getting rid of the touch screen, sorry but they got too ubsessed with the dang touchscreen on the ds, and no gba slot?
all the articles I found on google were based around this date... Unfortunately nintendo is getting too creative and ubsessed with their creations in my mind

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
I never even thought about the old one cause I felt it was a bad concept to begin with. To do the same thing only tweak it ever so slightly.. All I can say to that is it is like the G1.. I mean G2.. well OK the G3. This is another hand held system I wont waist my time with.

the only thing that would really take me in is the handheld shop, but again... DSI-ware would ruin that

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
This has been announced for awhile. It isn't to be considered a "DS 2". Think of it more as the difference between the GBA and the GBA SP.

excatly, screens a little bigger, the ds itselfs a little smaller (not good in my opinion) 2 cameras, one facing out the back of the screen for regular pictures, and one facing you for communication with others will gaming or simply conversing (very small megapixel i might add but plenty for the ds). now for the big issue -no more gba slot... does this mean that i wont be able to use all my awsome emmulators/applications? there is an sd slot but im not sure exactly what will be able to be done with it...

You could get a flash cart that goes in the the DS slot.

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
Some DS games require a special game pack thingy that goes in the GBA slot in order to play, I wont be able to play them with the DSI
I will not get one of these... unless a Pac-Man game comes out for it!

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
i actually think the NDSi will be kind of cool. With the 2 cameras and photo editor, its like a combo between a NDS and a Digital Camera!
(although the GBA thing sux... )

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
long story short, I have to do a report, so I'm doing one o the history of consoles, so I've been researching and, basically sony screwed nintendo out of their supposed to be joint system, so they sew nintendo and make the playstation, and I hate microsoft, because they sewed sega for the online microsoft service dreamcast used, then they make the xbox, and ba-da-bing ba-da-boom bye-bye sega, so those two companies messed with my two favourite companies, and now nintendo is always rushing things, and trying to get creative.

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
I like that Nintendo continues to be creative. I would much rather have innovation than the whole "The PS3 graphics are better than the PS2 so buy this one now" idea.
As for the DSi, I think its targeted to those who don't currently own a DS. I would assume most people who don't own a DS yet don't own a GBA either therefore the GBA slot was replaced with an SD card slot to be incorporated with the Wii.[br]Posted on: February 03, 2009, 05:35:40 AM_________________________________________________M aybe using the SD card slot you'll be able to bring over your VC titles and some of the Wii Ware titles (MM9) as well?

Aww I would be sold for that, then I could play all my 32 vc games on my dsi on the 12 hour drive to shuswap lake, 3 times every summer, It could come in very handy that way ;D

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
I like the DS, and the DSi will probably be worth it, even though it's not that much of a difference between this and the DS Lite. A Korean company called GamePark Holdings is coming out with a console called the GP2X Wiz, with an SD card slot / touch screen (Yes!). I have the previous version, and it was actually pretty good; it ran PS1 games at a rate of, oh, 5 FPS. This one, though, will have a 3D Graphics Accelerator, so PS1 games may not be impossible at a smooth frame rate.

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
Sorry for bumping this thread from the depths, but:
I've had a DSi for a while now and I miss my GBA slot.
I sort of like the camera, but I think the GBA slot shouldn't have been taken away.

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
I hate when companies decide to remove backwards compatibility for some lame reason. I don't really own any new game boy games, this system would fail for my needs.

reminds me of the ps3 i won, finding out that ps1 and ps2 discs don't work in it even though there is a setting for a memory card for the 2 was kind of a letdown.

Re: Nintendo DSI, the next nintendo handheld?
I know, that's why I don't have a PS3, but instead a PS2, sure I can't play the new games coming out, but I can play the old PSone games I still have from years ago.

DM you should get Azure Dreams, it's awesome. If I had a working PS2 still I'd buy it again.

That is a big failure on Sonys part. I think they removed the option to save money or w/e. I think it's one of the stupidest moves in gaming history.

Azure Dreams does look fun, I'll try and find a copy.
I don't think that the removal of backwards compatibility was to save money, but to make more money.
