Recommend me a Wii game

I've decided to break down and buy a Wii. I plan on buying Twilight Princess with it. I have no clue what other game I want to buy along with it. So here I'm asking, if you think you know what I like recommend me a Wii game please. My only prerequisite is that it have online compatability. Bonus points if some of my fellow RU gamers own and play it. Thanks in advance.

P.S. Those who think I would like SSB need not apply.

It's not online but I think you'd like Mario Galaxy. It's a good mario game.

If you want a good multiplayer game the only one I can suggest is Mario Kart. I'd play you in that. I got brawl too but you seem to have a problem with that game.

i was going to make the same recommendations. I think Mario Galaxy is great. I finished the game a month ago and I still have the music stuck in my head. Dudebro mentioned that Mario Kart was good multiplayer, he is right, but single player leaves a lot to be desired, i found myself being bored after one or two races.

resident evil 4 for the wii was pretty good, makes good use of the wii remote.

for multiplayer games on the wii, you might want to stick to things like mario party 8. it isn't the best multiplayer system. if it is a game you want to play with your kid, get an extra steering wheel and get mario kart

Even though it's not online, i would suggest Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn because it is the best Strategy game.

FOr online, i would recommend playing Castlevania: Judgement.

other than that, Mario Kart, Mario Galaxy and Red Steel are good. Also, if you want a laugh, get a Rayman Raving Rabbids game, I have all three and reccomend them ALL.

I'm not a Mario fan so I'll skip Galaxy. Mario Kart seems like a one-trick pony so I'll pass on that and the non-online games.

I'll look more into Red Steel and Castlevania: Judgement.

Since everyone here has suggested games that are not Wi-Fi compatible, I'll try and help you out Tenser. You may, or may not like them but again...I am just recommending titles I think you might like and that I already have. Again, these are games that I have and are Wi-Fi. I know you're not a fan of Mario, but maybe your family will enjoy them.

- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
- Mario Strikers Charged
- Any Guitar Hero title.

This might not help you out much, but it's hard for me to recommend something to someone when I don't have it...or haven't played it myself. I don't have any Red Steel or Castlevania type games...yet.

Does anyone know the release date on Monster Hunter 3? That looks interesting. I got 3 release dates from 3 different sites; 1/15/09 - 4/15/09 - 12/31/09.

To the people mentioning FPSs for the wii are you talking about the rail-shooters? I think that's the term they use. If so I suggest playing a real FPS, those rail games are insulting. Sure you can shoot at stuff but god forbid you want to look around a room or sidestep to avoid something. I think they ruined CoD by getting rid of the whole being able to control yourself thing.

Tenser, if you're afraid of getting pwned in Mario Kart just man up and admit it.

I agree with NN about Mario and Sonic at the Olympics. I didn't think I'd like it but for some reason I ended up renting for a second week(that's unusual for me).

Another game I thought of that's online, Animal Crossing. I got that game too. You know you want to come to my town.

On rail shooters for wii? I've only heard of two, RE:UC and the HotD 1 and 2 port. CoD still let's you control yourself.

My bad then. I saw commercials for CoD and I was lead to believe that it was rail shooter. I'm wary of any Wii shooters after playing RE:UC, that game made me angry.

Where's all the great online adventure games? I checked out a wiki list of Wii games that had online support and it was thoroughly depressing.

I agree. The number of Wii games that are Wi-Fi are limited. Not only are they limited, but they aren't titles to brag about. On that note, I do have one major complaint about Mario Super Sluggers...it isn't Wi-Fi. I really wonder why they didn't make this game Wi-Fi compatible. I really like this game and I can't even play baseball against friends!? Strange...very strange. Anyway, I know I wasn't much assistance with the recommendations, but then again...there aren't many. At any rate, congratulations on purchasing your new Wii, it will get better...hopefully.

I think Nintendo's biggest mistake was to not enable online play for its VC games.

1) Does anyone know if the Wii has a regional lock out?
2) No one has any idea when Monster Hunter 3 hits NA shores?

It does. Supposedly the Datel Freeloader thing works OK. I have my Wii softmodded and it plays Japanese games like a champ. Tetsunoko Vs. Capcom FTW!

I don't think it has an official release date. If it did I would know it. Monster Hunter games are awesome to the max.

And as far as recommending you a game Tenser, I can't given your criteria because the Wii's internet play is no good. I have had very few pleasant experiences playing games online with the Wii. I can't recommend getting any game for the sake of playing it online.

Not a fan of FPSs, sorry. I don't even like Golden Eye, Halo, and Doom when they each came out.

It looks to me like the April date is the most credible of the ones you mentioned. But even that seems pretty speculative. And the official capcom page (which you've probably seen, therefore making this comment rather worthless) is still set on MH2. So who knows.

So instead of buying a 3DO I went out and dropped money on a Wii, an extra mote and chuck, Twilight Princess, and Mario Kart. When I get the initiative to take it out of the box and hook up online play I expect to be schooled in some Kart.

The 3DO will be waiting even longer because the wife decided she wants a DS while at Gamestop. So that'll be my next purchase. I'll also need to figure out what game she wanted. Something with Liv Tyler in the commercial and the game was those puzzles where you find hidden things inside a picture like in Highlights magazine. Bleh...
