What Dreamcast game should I start with?

I'm thinking about getting a dreamcast. I wanna know what game I should start with. I'm thinking Sonic Adventure, I could get that cheap, I don't want Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 because it's so expensive. What do you guys think?

I just bought a dreamcast a month ago so...

Sonic adventure: it is a great game if you don't mind corny cutscenes
Sonic adventure 2: I haven't tried it yet but it looks and sounds better from what I've heard
Dynamite cop: I enjoyed this game, it is an arcade transfer, it's great if you like button mashing fighters.
Gauntlet Legends: I would Highly suggest getting this it is somewhat of a 1-4 player rpg platformer, it is somewhat repetitive, but all in all I love this game, especially for a multiplayer game.
Crazi Taxi: I've never played it, but heard from people here that it is good.

all in all, it is a great Idea to buy the dreamcast, I don't play mine much but we are waiting for the store to get more games in, we only have 2 right now, but in any case you won't be disapointed, the controllers are my favorite ever, because they fit perfectly in your hand and have a little screen memory card, the system itself is great except don't leave it on carpet, or anything like that, and if you buy an original console they will overheat after 5 hours, but who's going to play for 5 hours straight

#1 Gauntlet legends
#2 nhl 2k2
#3 sonic adventure 2
#4 Hydro thunder
#5 coaster works

that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

@ anyone who knows: is half life available for the dreamcast?

I have crazy taxi and Sonic Adventure 2

I could get Sonic adventure cheap off amazon so I'll probably start with that

Then maybe Hydro Thunder or Skies of Arcadia....

Do you know if people still go online on their dreamcast? I may get Phantasy Star Online, but if nobody's on then It's useless.

I checked wikipedia, looks like you just missed it.

As of late July of 2008, Sega removed the Hunter's License (HL) server from the internet. As a result of this, it is not currently possible to play Dreamcast versions other than NTSC/U v1, PAL v1 and PAL v2 online other than by using Action Replay codes to bypass the Hunter's License check. The Gamecube, Xbox and PC versions are unaffected by the removal of the server

But I did read it can be played offline.

If you want an RPG try Record of the Lodoss War.

I'm a helpful person but I'm not going to check amazon for you. Instead of asking me it would've taken like one minute to check.

RotLW is an RPG. I never heard of it until I tried it and I loved it. It is similar to Diablo when it comes to combat. You don't have much in the way of melee attacks but spells and other special effects make up the difference. You find tons of weapons and armor and you're able to customize them with inscriptions(add stuff like 10dmg,shoot fireball). Later on you can make stuff too.
Ok so it sounds almost exactly like diablo but it's really not. This game is an RPG where Diablo is an RPG in name only(debatable I know).

Bottomline, I own a dreamcast. This game is my favorite out of all the ones I've tried.

there are some private servers that people still use for online play, no support from sega anymore, that ended in 06 i think

id reccommend firepro wrestling d if you like wrestling, the fire pro series is the best wrestling series of all time, me and my buddys played the heck out of it over the holidays
