Fall-Out 3
I was talking to someone today about this game. He said he has it for his XBox 360 and said it's awesome. I believe this was also released for the PS3 and PC as well. Basically, the plot is post WWIII and you...the character lived inside a vault during the whole WWIII mess and later come out only to find the world in a state of ruin, corruption, and chaos.
He showed me some screenshots and they looked amazing! If any of you are into extremely gory, grotesque FPS games with a twisted storyline you should definitely look into this.

Right, from what my friend was saying, you could pick a spot on the enemy's body to attack...like his arm, head, shoulder, torso, etc. I saw some really cool weapons from the screenshots and some very graphic killings.

;D And I came to believe awhile ago that during the gaming industry of today, if you have one FPS, you have them all with a different storyline so I'm going to pass.

FallOut 3 is an RPG. You can't really play it like you would an FPS.
FallOut 3 is awesome. I have probably put a solid 15 hours into it. But right now it is on hold while I play through Dead Space and Fable 2.

Re: Fall-Out 3
Yeah this is game of the year, I'm calling it. It's got elements of FPS but it's an RPG. The only reason it's considered FPS is because of the guns. If you were shooting magic then no one would mention FPS.
And it's not really Oblivion with guns. It runs off the same game engine but other than that it's different. If anything it's more like Morrowwind(the game before Oblivion), freedom of choices and actions.
Also it just feels different. It keeps the same awesome leveling system from Fallout1 and 2 but updates the graphics. I think it came out almost perfect. Honestly I hated the leveling system in Oblivion, it's a chore to get it right and by then you took all the fun out it.

ha you guys have put a lot of hours into the game.
well I have put like 15 - 20 hours into the game and I have not even started the main story line yet I have just been doing the wasteland survival guide side quest
(I spend most of my time clearing buildings of items...)
I currently have over 2000 pounds of just misc items and about 300 pounds of aid items and I have no idea on guns and weapons ;D

Re: Fall-Out 3
@mj no what I do is I will kill all the enemys in the area then fast travel back to my house at magaton and remove all my items that I want to keep like weapons and aid items ect and put them in the cabnet by my bed then I will fast travel back to the location then I will start at the very back of the building and collect every item that I can and slowly make my way to the front and clearing every room then I will find a spot that is easy to remember by the front door useually in a container like a fileing cabnit or first aid box and I will pull out what I can carry in max weight (currently 240 lbs at a time) then I will fast travel back to megaton and put those items in there designated spots at my house
Misc items go in the cabnet by the door
weapons in the other cabnet opposit the door one
apparel goes in the fridge
aid goes in the desk up stairs
and I will repeat this process untill there is nothing left at the location and then I will go back to the cabnet by the bed and re equip all my stuff and continue the adventure.

2000 pounds? Aren't you allowed to only have about 230-250 or so?

Re: Fall-Out 3
You can carry about 250 with out being over encumbered after you pass that mark you move at a reduced speed cant jump and cant fast travel
but you can carry as much weight as you want
but I store all my stuff at my house and when I pulled it out I had over 2000 pounds of weight

Re: Fall-Out 3
Yeah I got tons of stuff in storage too. I hate having so much but it's hard to part with most of it. Like I don't even use big guns but I have a missle launcher and @30-40 missles just taking up space.

Re: Fall-Out 3
I have to say I have logged about 130 hours in Fallout 3 and it has really become a chore for me. I think my main complaint with the game is that the graphics are so repetitive. I can kind of understand why this is the case (post apocalyptic and all) but it seems to me that the programmers just got lazy in some areas because everything just looks the same. Also, I have to say I am disappointed that the level max caps at 20. I have to disagree with you on the leveling system Dudebro. It comes down to preference I guess, but for me, I loved how Oblivion let you level up stats individually. I'm not as big of a fan of just getting points to allocate to skills. I suppose most games do this, but I liked how Oblivion was a bit more intuitive.
I will say that I like some of the quests in Fallout 3 quite a bit, but some of the little things bug me. I still like the game, but I think the lack of veriety just got to me. I would still give it 7 out of 10 though. I think I will also download the Alaskan DLC. That looks pretty cool to me.

Re: Fall-Out 3
Oblivion and fallout have basically the same amount of options for leveling if you think about it. Like you said the main difference is level 20 cap. I agree that's a buzzkill.
Oblivion doesn't have awesome guns though. I kinda got bored swinging swords and shooting bows. Hard to get bored blowing a mutants face off with a shotgun.

Fair enough. One other positive thing on that topic is I heard today that the 3rd DLC pack coming out this year will raise the level cap from 20 to 30. That should help.
I agree that a lot of the weapons are really sweet. I also enjoy using V.A.T.S. a lot. I think the main thing for me is the sameness of some of the sections. I am going to try the Alaska though. Maybe that will reboot the visuals for me. I still like the game alot.

Re: Fall-Out 3
I know what you mean about the visuals. It's barren wasteland broken up by the same destroyed buildings and highways. Of course it all looks good but it's not very creative. Although downtown DC is pretty cool.
Oblivion did look better but that might be because of the fantasy setting. One thing that bugged me was the dungeons. Those all looked the same but slightly different layouts. It got to the point where I was having deja vu entering a new one.

I agree the graphics themselves look really good. I think it is just some of the buildings just kind of look like the same map wise. Kind of the same things that bothered you about Oblivion I guess. I had some of the same issues with Oblivion dungeons, but most of them were the extra dungeons that you didn't have to do, so I guess that's why they didn't bother me as much. I do like the D.C. ruins area too. It's mainly the factories and random buildings that get to me.

Re: Fall-Out 3
I will say that Fallout actually scared me at times. Not just startled but freaked out. It's creepy walking alone in the dark and hearing a noise. It's scary when you're in a destroyed subway and you can't tell where it came from.

I can agree that the scenery did get a little drab after a while
but in bethesda studios defence... they were designing a 40 square mile area or something around that size.
but in controdiction to there defences they were designing it around a real place so they should have just studied what was there and then put that.

130 HOURS THAT, my friend, is impressive.
I think that logging 130 hours in any game would feel like a chore. :P
I've only played this game a couple of times. From what I saw of it, I want it.
Unfortunately, I'm a cheapskate, so I'll wait until the price drops.

Why thank you, but don't take what I say the wrong way. I still really recommend the game. It's just that I think that some of the building interiors just looks kind of the same to me. I like the towns and most areas. It's mainly the office building that drive me crazy sometimes. I played Oblivion for about 450 hours, over the span of 1 1/2 years, and I never got sick of the game. Although I will agree with Dudebro that some of the dungeons do look alike.
The other thing that has "bugged" me is my copy of the game has a lot of bugs. For example, NPCs will sometimes disappear to never be seen again, and sometimes quests will be cut off due to this. I still like the game, but I have to have multiple save files in case this happens. I will go back and finish it, there are just some levels that look the same.

Re: Fall-Out 3
Yeah I have no idea why Fallout3 still has bugs. It can be updated easily at anytime over Live but last I checked some NPCs glitch and die. Die? That's unacceptable. At least make them immortal like Oblivion(important people get knocked out but don't die).
In my game a basic quest NPC was gone all the sudden. I searched all over town, I even waited in his room for about two game days before I had to look it up online. After reading he sometimes "falls" from his position I found him wedged behind a building, dead and useless. Not an important npc but he was still useful up until then.
@Tanc, I usually have about 100 hours playtime for rpgs I like. I'm into details though so I do everything possible while I play. Also I usually takes months to finish a game so it's spread out.
Honestly I stopped playing Fallout3 for now. I just don't feel like playing it for some reason. It's definitely not as epic as the first two games.
