Dreamcast: 9 Years Later

The Dreamcast was released is the US 9 years ago (9/9/99).

I know I am not alone in my love for the Dreamcast. This article actually made me pretty sad to think about how great the Dreamcast was, and the fact that is was so short lived and the last console Sega ever made.

I know about the Dreamcast's history. I learned of it watching Icons on G4Tech TV back when I had satellite TV.
Sega stopped selling the Dreamcast over here because they were concerned they could not compete with Sony's PS2 & it's DVD compatibility.
After all these years, I believed Sega should have never worry about it. IMO, the Dreamcast would've sold here despite anything Sony or Microsoft would dish out, & would still sell to this day. Also imo, the Dreamcast was the best system ever made. Period.

I like that statement. The only problem is it doesn't have as many awesome games as it should, because of its short life. If it had a normal life span, I would play my Dreamcast even more than I do.

I love dreamcast too. Record of the Lodoss War is an awesome RPG, I played it alot.

SO MANY 9'S!!!!!
But on a more serious scale, the only time I played DreamCast was at my friend's house. I kinda liked Sonic Adventure

Sonic Adventure is my most favorite game for that system. My other favorites that I played were DOA2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, & Capcom vs. SNK.
I never played Soul Calibur, but I had played Soul Calibur 2 (Gamecube). Many say SC2 it's the same thing so...

A great system. The DVD aspect did get people to pick up ps2, but I think what really messed up the DC was when people started to pirate the games.

also, the fact at that point alot of people just didnt trust sega anymore, so many unsupported add-ons and peripherals

the real problem with dreamcast was they concentrated too much on graphics and not on the discs so the games were always short, as much as I loved sega that's the truth

I don't think Dreamcast games were abnormally short. IF they were I sure didn't notice.

well alot of them were arcade ports or had a very arcady feel to them, but i dont think that was any part of the problem

well the discs were actually small in space, but not trying to draw you to evg but there is like an 11 page debate on anew system that could have facts

I've read the EVG topic.

There were a ton of unique titles for the Dreamcast. I still think its downfall was due to the whole Genesis,32X,Sega CD, Sega Saturn thing,

sigh.. i still play my dreamcast almost daily, been playing sf3, virtua tennis 2, crazy taxi, 355 ferrari and a few others

Record of the Lodoss war wasn't short if I remember right. That's the only game I played a lot on Dreamcast so I can't speak of the others. But I still love that game.

"sigh" I wish I had one maybe they will come out with dreamcast on the virtual console, and also about celeco something I researched on wikipedia that the y merged with hasbro so at least I know they made one of my favourite games rollercoaster tycoon, but I should get back on topic
