Uncle Buck was a movie starring John Candy who played "Buck" in the movie. John Candy also starred in The Great Outdoors which had another character named "Buck" as well. In that movie John Candy's character "Chet" tells "Buck" what hotdogs are made of. I can not repeat what he said on this board.

It's kinda funny how I got the name. I'm an EMT and when I first started working on the road, my partner kept looking at me funny and saying "Damn, I just can't believe it..." So finally I bit and said "Can't believe what?" He says "I don't wanna offend you" I say "No worries, I'm hard to offend" He says "You looks SO MUCH like John Candy!"

SO that started to go around base....and as people got to know me, they decided that I most acted like Uncle Buck....so henceforth, I am forever known in EMS as Uncle Buck. There are people there who don't even know my real name (Matt, if anyone's interested!)

If he didn't wish to be referred to as Uncle Buck I highly doubt he would have made that his forum nick.
