Retro Poker Game?
So after seeing Ten's new sig bar, nice by the way . I see that he, like most of America, plays poker, as do I. So I would like to see if anyone here would be interested in having a poker night. If things go well we could make it a weekly or monthly thing.
I think that Party Poker has private tables available, so we could all agree to go there and play. If anyone plays there and can tell me about it that would be great, otherwise I'll look into it later this week.
I was thinking of doing it for fun, but if people are interested we can play for cash, maybe through paypal?
Also depending on where we play and if we play for money we may have limit it to people of a certain age.
Pretzels, beer and cigars would be up to you.

I'm in for fun. I'd love to play for money, but not online where you can't read someone. If you decide to go for fun I'd suggest maybe bi-weekly.
Just too bad I can't enjoy a nice Garcia Vega Crystal in the house.

Retro Poker Game?
I played on party poker a couple years ago and it should handle our requirements.
I think the first time should definitely be for play money so everyone can see what they are in for, the rules, and how the online mechanics work. After that we can decide if we want to bring real money into it or not.

There are 7 cards in play, 5 on the board and 2 in the hole.
I was thinking Hold'em since it's what most people know. Though some weeks we could try 7 stud, or Omaha. I think we should play for fun, or maybe retro points to start with. So I need to know who is interested-

It depends on the time. If it's in the morning/afternoon I'll play a few hands.

I am in. IMO. Start with just for fun - play money. If that goes well then move up to points next week. And if that goes well move up to pay pal later. We should figure out a time and day. I go to sleep in the late afternoon American time.
Slightly off-topic rant.

Retro Poker Game?
Yep we Americans, or at least Americans living in America cannot play poker online for money anymore. I'm not sure if it was really Bush who did so, seeing as the Bill had to pass the House. But yep Banned in the USA. And here's the thing, the casino's wanted it to be allowed and regulated, even taxed. It was a fortune for them, but Congress decided to legislate morality.
Not that there are not thousands of college students NOT dropping into dept because of it, but still. What's the difference between online poker and casino poker?
Here's another thing for you those who want to win the world series of Poker and be a poker pro, for every dollar you win someone had to lose. You are not generating money here.
If you are wonder why this is not off-topic-
I'm allowing all poker talk in this thread, because I'm the thread author and the Forum Mod-

There are probably 500 ways to play 7-card stud. Any style of poker game where you end up with a seven card hand and cannot draw is 7-card stud. Texas Hold'Em is just one of them. Criss-Cross, Follow the Bitch, Upsy Downy, and Under 10 are a few other versions of 7-card stud.
Depending on the day and time, I'm in. The best time for me is weeknights.

Count me in.
I think that the first game, we should bet nothing and then have the rest of the games be where everyone bets points. I don't care about what kind of poker that we play but I think we should change the type weekly.

It does not matter if you live in America or not. It is based on your billing address and even though I do not live in America, my credit card and bank does.
I am strongly against "legislating morality" in any form. This is personal choice and should have nothing to do with the government.
Party Poker blamed "the president" but yes I imagine Bush did not have much to do with it. Presidents do not pass laws.
I wonder if it is legal to play online gambling if you live in Nevada or on a river boat. Seems like they did not think it through very far.
You should take this "for every dollar you win someone had to lose. You are not generating money here." A step further. The house takes a cut of the win. So for every dollar you win someone else had to lose a $1.10.

It's probably more than $1.10, I'd say $3.00, you aren't seeing that many (I'm sure there are some) casinos in Vegas (or anywhere else for that matter) filing bankruptcy.

Ahh yes the rake.
Quoting Worm from Rounders "Women are the rake, the freaking rake"
Mike "What?"
Worm "Nothing"
And yes I know that if you quote Rounders then you are a fish, what does it say when I still quote it?

It's basically 7-Card Stud hands up.
First, everyone is dealt two cards face up so everyone can see them.
Then there's a round of betting.
Then everyone's dealt another two cards face up, followed by another round of betting.
This is repeated one more time so everyone has six cards face up, followed by another round of betting.
Finally everyone is dealt their last card face up to see who wins.
Its called Follow the Bitch because the wild cards are the Queen and the next card laid down after her. The second wild card will change if another Queen is dealt.
