Fav Heavy Metal Band

lol, just wanted to see how many people listen to the same music as i, and discuss their fav songs and bands, no real rules just as long as its considered metal
i guess ill start
Metallica is my fav, mostly because of the longevity and that they were the first metal band i ever listened to, St. Anger did suck, i will admit to that, they screwed up biga time

If he can make a mistake, then I think I can rant all I want. Look it up in the Constitution. (constitution, admenmant, I dont remember) Its called "Freedom of Speech"

yeah, paranoid is one of Sabbath's best in my oppinion, if your into theash, ex. Metallica(80s stuff) Slayer, Testament, Pantera(i know theyre "groove"[post thrash] metal but i call em thrash anyway) check out Death Angel, theyre not as death metal or emo as the name sounds

I don't listen to alot of metal. I never understood how people could enjoy what sounds to me like complete noise, not all metal but some of it. Most of the metal I know is from Guitar Hero, and I can't stand stuff like In Flames and stuff like that. Metallica and Iron Maiden I also dislike, but I do not consider it "just noise". I just don't like it, but I understand that some people do and I don't question that.

If they count as a metal band, the only metal band I listen to is Rage Against The Machine. I know alot of people who categorize them as metal/rap, which seems about right to me.

I'm not a big fan of Metal either. I have a hard time defining metal, but going by the stuff mentioned in this thread...

I like some Rage against the Machine,
Black Sabbath isn't bad,
Metallica used to be cool.
Also is White Zombie considered metal? If so I've always liked them.

Correct me if I'm wrong but on a private site like this one you have no rights really. Any mod can alter what you say or deny you access without explanation and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Also Freedom of Speech has it's limitations like MJ23 was saying.
Your right to Free Speech only extends as far as the next persons rights. Like you can't yell fire at the movies, you can't walk down the street and call people racial slurs, ect.
Actually your right to Free Speech isn't that great these days. Just check Wikipedia for the list of reasons your rights can be suspended. Free Speech zones anyone?

Oh man. I forgot Sabbath. I do like Sabbath a bit.

And I wasn't bashing on metal. Well, not ALL metal. I understand that metal has an extremely wide range (just like rap, mind you!) but a certain sub-genre of metal never sat right with me. I can't rightly defend it because I don't know enough about the genre, but I know that it just sounds like noise to me. Alot of the local metal bands in my city play that kind of metal, and I have been to enough shows to know that I don't like it, even when it is done by professionals.

And then most other metal I just don't like, but I'm not bashing it. To each his own, I say.

There are probably other metal bands I like, I just don't know that they are considered metal or can't think of them right now.

I currently like System of a Down, Serj Tankian, and Nonpoint. My favorite band, Dredg, has one album that's labled as metal, Leitmotif. I use to like Pantera but grew out of it.

I don't listen to much metal because my favorite genres are folk, indi-pop and experimental.

Heck, I consider rock 'n roll better.
