Dragon Quest XI Is Coming To The Nintendo 3DS And Nintendo NX - Nintendo Life

Looks cool, besides the usual DBZ characters, but what's up with not coming to WiiU? That seems pretty rude to the fanbase. I guess they need something to push the next Nintendo console already.

Wii U prb can't handle it. The console version of the game is coming to PS4 as well and the 3DS game looks like a very different graphical style.

The WiiU can't handle it? Why not at least give them a port of the 3DS version then? Leaving the WiiU out seems like a cheap way to motivate Nintendo fans to grab the next console. With how disappointing the WiiU has been overall I'm amazed they aren't bending over backwards to keep their loyal customers. I don't have a dog in that fight but it still seems messed up.

I don't think it's Nintendo's say on what systems Square-Enix publishes it's games. I'm sure Ninty would love to have DQXI on Wuu but Squeenix rightly sees that there isn't enough money to be made to justify porting the game over to the Wuu engine.

I'd buy that more if they weren't gonna make a NX port. If the WiiU is such a risk why would the next console be any safer?

Launch games tend to sell many more units do to lack of competition.

Ubisoft has based nearly there entire business off of this model.

It's too bad they aren't gonna get with the times and do a PC launch as well. I'll play it on 3DS but I'd prefer a "larger" version. Either way I'm hyped so it's all good.

You might get a PC version of DQXI. If you're more interested and can wait, I would recommend doing so.

DQX is now on or been announced for seven different systems including PC.

Well let's hope for a Steam or GOG version. I'm sure there's lots of people who would love to play it but won't buy a console for it.

What do you all think about the 2 screens with different styles on the 3ds version? I'm torn, can't tell if cool or wierd.

I'll probably buy the 3DS version for portability unless the NX turns out to be a handheld or handheld/console hybrid.

Ahhhh... I was under the impression all day that it was confirmed to be coming to NA. I can't see them not localizing it though... right?

PS4 localization is highly probable. Sony will offer to fund it if SE doesn't to add a chip to their pile.

3DS localization is pretty sketchy. SE might if they localize the PS4 version and the process isn't too involved and costly. It's doubtful Nintendo would as they've passed on a number of DQ games and they wouldn't benefit much from it with the 3DS nearing the end of it's life-cycle.

NX localization is almost a certainty as long as the game is still "fresh" when the NX launches. Ninty will be desperate to add as much to their launch window as they possibly can.

I would go for the 3DS version for that reason alone. It looks really cool.

I'm seeing quite a few reports that a release on the NX is not confirmed.

All speculation here, but I think they might have made a rough-cut of the game in 2-d. Basically hammer out all the technical stuff and details in a simplified 2-d version of the game first in order to save time and money on retakes, bugs and changes and stuff. Then they just decided to include the "storyboard" version on the bottom screen.

I say this because in one of the videos the player gets into a battle, and the top screen displays a 2d battle, witch kinda suggests that the 3d versions of those enemies weren't not done yet...

I don't know, I'm not sold on playing 2 games at once. I'm worried it might be a distraction.
