Knights of The Old Republic games crashing

Hey guys. I've done everything I can think to try for these games to get them to work, searched online entirely. Lots of issues apparently, but I had them solved before. I just stopped playing the second game in the summer and wanted to pick it up again. Tried to load my save files, all of em, and they crashed. Tried to start a new game, and it crashed. Tried the first game, same thing.

At a loss here. The second game had what's called a Restored content mod as well which fixed a lot of bugs for the game and added planned content obsidian had for the game before it was rushed to release. This was installed when I was playing and my save files likely use it. Although it was started after I started my save files as I recall, so I'm not positive, though the saves worked then with the mod. I just can't be sure as I never played the second game before to tell if anything was different.

To the technical aspects of what you will probably find online, and my computers specs.

I run dual monitor, one of them being a 4:3 for games like this native to it (it also just fits on my desk better). the widescreen issues people are having should not matter to me.

Windows 7
Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.40GHz
64 Bit
AMD Radeon 7870 Graphics
2 Hard Drives 1 TB & 2 TB. Main is the 1Tb houses the games

Not sure relevant, but what's changed since I last played was the additional hard drive, different mouse and keyboard and a new power supply.

Got work for 4 hours here. Hoping someone can come up with something. It is christmas, but I'd really appreciate help when possible. Not nearly as tech savvy as many here.

I've also reinstalled while hanging onto my save files, tried loading them with and without the mod on. Nada.
