New forum rules

The rules supersede the old rules for now. This is a trial run and may change at my whim.

NO PORN No tits, dicks, vagoos, anuses (ani?) or the like. There's a No Mod forum for that. Send me a PM to request an invite to it.

NO HATE Keep the prejudices in check. You may rant but you can't hate. "Holy shit Wulph, what the fuck is wrong with you?" is okay. "Wulph, you're a cock sucking asshole." is not.

NO DOUCHE BAGS Don't be a fucking annoying prick. Stupid shit like trolling, flaming, e-drama, etc... If you're irritating the mods they'll just ban you. This rule is subjective and the more I like you the more I'm probably willing to put up with your shit (see StevenCassidy and Dudebro). This rule does not apply to me. I'm the biggest douchebag of all.

Please don't misunderstand; I appreciate the freedom of expression occasional outbursts of profanity can be, and it's good to let off a bit of steam now and then.

My concern is that people coming to visit this site for the first time may be put off if they see the main Forum has suddenly begun including language which is not family - friendly.



Oh sure they can visit for the games and not enter the Forum at all .. like I did for quite a while before I began haunting this place EVG!!

Not sure where I'm going with this but maybe swearing doesn't make us seem funny or smart?



In my opinion we should keep the profanity in the separate sections so as not to upset the kiddies and other potentially sensitive folk.

Right, this isn't 4-chan and I will never let it become 4-chan.

This is a retro video game site and as such our target audience is adult males in their late 20's to early 40's. If members are willing to act like adults I'm willing to treat them like adults.

That being said, this is a test run. If things start getting out of hand the rules can go back to they way they were before with but a single post. I've thought about doing this for a month or so now, the timing was just right.

@Joe and anyone else who would be more "observant" of the change: I value your opinions the most. Let the new rules run through the holidays and then tell me what you think afterwards.

So I can't say whether the new rules have been good or bad for the forum in the time they have been in place.

I believe it's better not to swear, keeping the {main} forum more user - friendly for all.
Not gonna cry foul if I'm outvoted on this, and my opinion is in no way meant to be a 'giving in to' this sickeningly 'Politically Correct' age we're living in = 'cause it aint!!
