Evil Dead tv show

Bruce Campbell Will STAR In the "Evil Dead" TV Series! #SDCC -

Sam Raimi is directing alongside his brother and Bruce Campbell is supposedly gonna star in it. I can't help but be excited but I'm also a bit worried because Bruce isn't looking as groovy nowdays-



So what do you guys predict? Cancelled quickly or a surprise hit?

Neither. It'll start off great but decline more and more. Then it'll remain on air from support from the die-hard fans while being an average show at best.

The article I read made a good point. A few years ago this might've been an automatic flop but now we have a surge of horror TV shows with Walking Dead being the biggest example. The market is there. This team knows how to make good stuff and they probably have a lot of freedom to make the show the way they want it. It could turn out to be awesome. Maybe they like the Walking Dead but saw a way to improve it, have Ash and his friends boomsticking and arm-chainsawing their way through the dead(ites). You think Ash would've put up with Shane or Lori that long?

Lol. I just realized I described The Walking Dead in my quote. The hardest thing to do in zombie shows is make it realistic as possible meaning that anyone can die at any moment, something that most shows (Walking Dead including), don't do.

Writing characters out and replacing them over again can easily kill most storylines; in my opinion, the audience needs characters they can identify with and therefore those characters must have some type of longevity.

ON TOPIC:

As a fan of the Evil Dead 'Trilogy' , Sam Raimi and Bruce Campell's early works I should be tickled by the news, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I think you may have misunderstood my posting the pics for E D: Regen and Boomstick; I thought both games were terrible and nearly unplayable.
On that note, how is this HTTK for Xbox?

Terrible? Maybe. They certainly weren't the cream of the crop in terms of gameplay or storytelling, but they definitely had a great atmosphere and soundtrack. As far as unplayable? Not even close. Both games had their issues to be sure, but I was able to sit through both games without a single game breaking bug or glitch.

HTTK (for PS1, by the way, I realize not everybody realizes PSX = Playstation, sorry Joe!) is pretty great, actually. On the same level of Fistful of Boomstick, so you might not like them.

Perhaps I like them because they're not trying to be anything more than what they appear to be, campy games based on a campy movie.

I'm glad to hear someone could play those games; I don't have very much patience I guess.
With Boomstick I actually made a little progress but at a certain point the swarming combined with not finding all the upgrades was too much.


Regeneration was too silly for me, I expected something more serious.
Throwing little Sam around .. no.

My definition of 'serious' in this instance goes like this:

AS a fan of the Evil Dead trilogy I recognize the fact the source material movies are loaded with campy humor, and even the scenes where Ash chops off his possessed hand {which then attacks him} and such are done in a humorous way.

Sam Raimi incorporated a lot of material from The Three Stooges of which he is fond,



and Bruce Campbell made it come to life in ways we never saw before.
From that perspective I agree with what you're saying - Evil Dead is pretty silly stuff!

However, when it came to the Boomstick game I was delighted to see it done with a relatively serious tone; aside from Ash's wisecracks it played like a typical Arena Shooter with some RPG elements, but overall the tone was pretty dark and .. and .. not so silly is what I think I'm getting at.

So when I got a hold of Regeneration I expected more of the same, I guess.
I certainly didn't expect to have to toss 'Sam the Deadite' around like a ragdoll!

Conclusion: you are right, Evil Dead is meant to be 'silly' horror and I shouldn't have expected anything less.

If I want serious, I suppose I should re - watch 'Within The Woods'
