Text Adventure - Ruins

This is a text adventure game that I am writing as I go along, taking input from posters as input. ;D Post answers to the questions, and if someone posts a valid answer, then I will continue the story based on that answer.

"You awaken in your living room. You arise slowly; your brain sloshes around inside your head. The last thing you recall is sitting on the couch and hearing a strange sound, something like a scream outside. Then you were knocked to the ground by a tremendous explosion. You are carrying your wallet and a watch. What do you do now?"

"You exit your home and take a look around. The ground is extremely uneven, and there is a gaping crater to the east. You neighbor's home is somewhat damaged, and from here, you can see your home is in shambles as well. There is a smaller crater in your yard as well. Everyone's home has suffered an extreme extent of damage. Your neighbor, William Shivens, is here. He is lying unconscious on the ground. He is breathing."
"You are carrying your wallet in your pants, and you are wearing the watch on your arm."

You run back into your house to get your special medicine that pulls their spirit awake.

Look around for a bag (preferably a backpack) and pack it with food items and maybe some medicine. Look for any type of weapon (lets say a bat or hockey stick, since it feels like this could be a long day).

"There is a bag in your bedroom, but the entrance is blocked by rocks. There is a baseball bat in your living room, but it was broken in half by a fallen armoire."

Basically, I think that trying to make a traditional text-adventure game in this (go forward, look, examine wallet) would be boring and long, so just state your next step (or set of steps), and I will respond accordingly. Let's continue.

"You look through your refridgerator, and while you couldn't get to the objects in the back, you were able to get to some bread, milk, cheese, fish, and hot dogs (with buns). Unfortunately, you couldn't take everything, so you just take the hot dogs."

Tails you are the third person not to read the instructions for this game. Joe is the only one that tells the story. It is like a choose your own adventure book.

I deleted the other two.

Kong, i thought it was you continue the story and then he extends it? thats what i did all along.

i stated the next step which is an explosion. or did i miss something.

He tells the majority of the story, we pick different paths that become part of the story.

You can say things like "I go to my girlfriend's house." You can not say things like "There is an explosion." The difference is you get to decide what the character does and how he reacts but only Joe gets to decide what happens to your character and the surroundings and everything else.

@kong just to see if i understand how this works, based on the last part of the story by joeman the good response would be something like " walk outside and go north".. or you could say "eat hot dogs".. so basically you play it like a text game correct?

I would use the stimulants to let your neighbor recover from his injury.

FINALLY! ;D Sweet.

"You give Mr. Shivens the Stimulant medicine. He slowly awakens, and he shakes his head. "What happened?" He asks. You reply, "You were knocked out, so I gave you some Stiumlant medicine I had in my medicine cabinet. I keep everything for emergencies in there. Band-aids, Peroxide... Nintendo DS... Backup DS..." "Wow..." He says. "Thanks, so much!" William Shivens joins your party!!!
"So, what happened to you?" You ask.
"I was standing outside, watering the grass, and then I saw these jets flying overhead. I heard an explosion, and then I was knocked to the ground. That's the last thing I remember." You look at Will's lawn; it's COMPLETELY scorched. The water hose is burned to a crisp, and water is shooting out of the water hose spigot.

Add on to Ten's post (if that is possible). While getting a towel, I would get the extra items in the medicine cabinet (to include the DS).

"You walk back into your house and look in your medicine cabinet. You take... What did I say was in the cabinet? Let me see.... *scroll down* *scroll down* Ah! DS, Backup DS, Band-aids, and Peroxide. You also attempt to grab the towel hanging on the towel rack, but it is pinned down by a fallen wooden beam. It is 2:12 PM. What do you do? You are carrying hot-dogs, your wallet, a Nintendo DS, a backup DS, peroxide, band-aids, and are wearing a watch."

So, we continue...

"You enter Will Shivens' home. He follows closely.
"Ohh..." He moans.
His living room is covered in rubble. You can see through his roof as, there is now NO roof. His roof is caved in and his attic's wood beams are on the ground. You look about, and it is hard to step around the rubble on the ground. There is an old 90's era radio here. You look to Will, who is collecting some pictures from his table. You ask him about the radio.
"Huh? ...Yeah," he responds. "I bought that a long time ago...It was in the attic, but I guess the explosion blew everything out..."
You pick up the radio; you turn it on, but it seems damaged; you suspect that it only can pick up radio waves in a 1-mile radius, which means that you'll have to amplify the range of the radio or move towards radio stations to pick up radio waves. You turn the radio back off.
"Will..." You say.
Will doesn't respond. He is crouched in the corner, picking up some broken pictures.

"Who're in those pictures?" You ask.
"They're pictures of me and my wife... We had only been married for a year when she..." Will breaks his speech.
"Will... I'm sorry..." You respond.
You both stand silently.

"Will... We have to keep moving... We can't stay here." You say.
"I know... I know." He responds.

You both go outside. You turn on the radio to an AM News station.
"Thi..st..n..Jets....bomb.ng...na.ion's..ca.itals. ...T.e..Pre.ident.o.th.Unite...States has declared a..State.O..Eme..ency..."
The radio isn't picking up stations very well. You turn it off. It is 2:40 PM."

"You walk east to a great smoking crater. It's got to be at least 30 feet deep. The sides of the crater are too hardened by intense heat to chip away hand-holds to climb down."

"You are carrying hot-dogs, your wallet, a Nintendo DS, a backup DS, peroxide, band-aids, and are wearing a watch."
