Helping the Mods

Lets face it. We all appreciate what the mods do for the site. When I was a mod, I did what I could but due to my limited capabilities, I couldn't keep up with the pace. The mods work hard to make this site better and more enjoyable. I have decided to try to help them out however I can. The most I can currently do is add game descriptions (which is what I mainly did anyway). So I will keep up with this thread and hopefully others will join in my cause. If you do want to help, look at some of the reviews I have done for the following games. Try to copy them and give as much detail as you can about the games. The mods can always just cut/copy/paste any information they see fit.

Ironsword: Wizards & Warriors II
Developer: Zippo Games
Publisher: Acclaim
Platform: NES
Release Date: December 1989
Genre: Action-Adventure
Single Player
The hero of the series, Kuros (depicted by model Fabio Lanzoni on the cover) , must faceoff once again against the evil wizard Malkil, who has taken control of the four elementals of the world ; wind, water, fire and earth.

Each of the four elemental realms consists of two stages. In the first stages, Kuros must find a golden artifact which belongs to the Animal King of the realm; once accomplished, the path to the second part of the realm will appear. In the second stage, the goal is to find the magic spell which can be used to fight the elemental boss. Without the spell, it is impossible to damage the boss. Once the elemental in each stage has been destroyed, Kuros will pick up a piece of the legendary Iron Sword, which is needed for the final battle on Icefire Mountain.

Werewolf the Last Warrior/ Choujinrou Senki Warwolf" -- Japanese Title
Publisher: Data East Corporation
Developed by: Data East Corporation
Released: November 1990
Genre: Action
Perspective: Platform/Side Scrolling
An evil leader and his gang of bio-engineered monsters has taken over the land and only one man stands in their way. Only he's not a man, he is a lycanthrope, a person able to transform into a terrible werewolf to let loose his anger.

You start the game in human form. The human can punch, jump, move and shoot a powered up shot which moves horizontally across the screen. By finding a Red "W" icon, the human is able to transform into a mighty werewolf creature. Accidentally grabbing a blue "W" icon or losing too much energy will change you back into a mere human being. The werewolf form offers higher jumps, quicker speed, greater strength, a shockwave attack and the ability to climb walls, so naturally you'll want this form whenever possible. Additionally the werewolf form has an anger meter that is augmented by collecting orbs. After 5 such orbs, the werewolf will transform yet again into a SUPER werewolf with even greater strength, speed and partial invincibility.

There are 5 stages in all. Each with a boss who moves in a distinct pattern

The Tower of Druaga

Developer: Namco
Publisher: Namco
Designer: Masanobu Endoh
Platforms: Arcade, MSX, NES, Gameboy, Sharp X68,000, Virtual Console
Release Date: 1984
Genre: Maze
The player assumes the role of the hero, Gilgamesh, whose goal is to rescure the maiden, Ki, from the demon Druaga. In order to do this, he must traverse through 60 floors of an immense tower. Each floor consists of a maze filled with monsters, and a randomly placed locked door leading to the next level. The player must navigate through the maze in order to find a randomly placed key that unlocks the door. In addition, each floor contains a hidden treasure, which appears once the player has performed a specific requirement. The player’s starting position is also randomly determined, and is where the hidden treasure always appears when revealed. The mazes themselves are not random. Some of the treasures contain merely helpful items, while some contain items essential to completing the game. Gilgamesh comes equipped with a sword, which he can use to defeat monsters, and a shield, which can be used to block magical attacks. The monsters get progressively more difficult as the game progresses, beginning with simple slimes and culminating to Druaga himself.

Transformers: Mystery of Comvoy/ Transformers: The Mystery of Optimus Prime/ Transformers: Convoy no Nazo

Developer: Takara
Publisher: Takara
Platform: Nintendo Famicom
Release Date: December 5, 1986 (Japan Only)
Genre: Multi-Scrolling Shooter
Mode: Single/Mulit Player

You play as Ultra Magnus who must shoot his way through 9 horizontally and vertically scrolling levels consisting of various Decepticon enemies, with a boss fight at the end of each level. He can transform into a car carrier, which makes it easier for him to avoid enemy attacks and shoot enemies that are flying above him. Along the way he can also pick up various power-ups which can give him wider ranging firepower or even the ability to fly. There are two Warp Zones within the game, and can be found by rescuing Bumblebee from the Decepticons.

Another playable character in the game is Rodimus Prime. He can be unlocked by collecting the letters that spell Rodimus.
( Click to show/hide )
One is hidden, sequentially, in levels 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9.

Make sure that when you type, that you use your big people words and don't type like a fool. This should make their jobs a little bit easier, and maybe it will give them some extra time to do other updates to the site. Good luck to everyone and hopefully we can get some good descriptions going.

Re: Helping the Mods

Thanks. I am not too worried about it. Even if anything is mis-spelled in the information, the mods will review it and change it. That is why pencils have erasers.

Re: Helping the Mods

The name in English is Transformers: Mystery of Comvoy. It is meant to identify Optimus Prime's killer. In Japan, the Transormers movie was not released and Optimus Prime's death was not adequately explained. This game was created to capitalize on the gap and give the Japanese audience an explanation. Therefore, you are not actually playing OP, because he is dead.

Re: Helping the Mods

Well now that I can edit some of the descriptions (even if it is only for a short while). So today (in the span of about 20 minutes), I found some info and edited the following games:

Alien Olympics 2044 AD
Alien vs. Predator: The Last of his Clan
Altered Space: A 3-D Alien Adventure
Amazing Tater
Atomic Punk

More to come later.

Re: Helping the Mods

So it has been a long time since I have done this, but I figured we could try to help out a little bit again so that we can all do our part in making the site a little bit better. Like I said it has been a while, but here goes (hopefully these will get better as time goes on). Just one for tonight before I go to bed.

1497: Five Years After

Platform: Amiga
Release Date: 1996
Genre: Strategy

1497: Five Years After is a Colonization/Civilization like strategy game, in which you are sent to explore and conquer the New World for your King. The game begins five years after the discovery of the New World. You are the captain of a cargo ship and your mission is to wipe out all the rivaling European powers from the New World.
