Streaming games and giveaways
http://www.twitch.tv/streamlicious
I was talking to the makers of the indie game Dwarfs!? on FB and they told me that they're giving away a thousand keys for the full game during this stream event. Sadly I have to hope I catch them playing the game to get those keys and I'll probably miss it. If any of you happen to catch it let me know if possible, I'll be very appreciative.
Right now they're playing LoL I think and it's pretty boring but I heard they're gonna be playing a bunch of indie games and there should be giveaways. This is for charity I hear so it seems legit. Can't hurt to tune in from time to time and see if you get lucky. If you guys get anything post here and let me know.

Wow no interest huh? Seems like all you have to do is sit in the chatroom and check occasionally to see if you won a game key. You need a twitch tv account but that is incredibly quick and easy to make.

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
That's too bad they're giving away a lot of keys. Each game they play they give out a set amount by chatroom lottery and they randomly give out keys in the chat so people can scramble to copy+paste it into steam first.

Yay they hooked me up with a key for the full Dwarfs!? game. I guess they felt bad for me after missing so many other giveaways.

I know you guys don't care but I'm gonna update anyways. Some random user gave me a key for Serious Sam: The random encounter. That's two free games from just watching the stream every now and then. I've been entered into countless random game lotteries also, bound to win one of those eventually.
I updated the first post with a better link. Once you make an account you should be entered into any random lottery giveaways if you're in chat on that page.

You guys are really missing out. I've spent no money and so far I've won/been gifted 7 indie games. I just won a random lottery and got an indie bundle pack containing The Dream Machine, Puzzle Agent 2, Children of the Nile, Anomoly: Warzone Earth and Adventure Apes and the Mayan Mystery.
So why is no one taking part in this? Bunch of noobs.

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
@Tenser- I'm only giving everyone a hard time because this is a great deal and missing it sucks.
@BH- If you win the lottery they PM you on Twitch, the host website you have to sign up to. Then you just use that code on Steam or the games website if it's not on Steam.
I forgot to mention that they also have some of the indie devs join chat and take questions from the room.

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
I hung out for like 20 minutes and then got bored with the stream and went off to play Minecraft. Sorry, I'd just rather buy the games that I want then wait out a bad stream to get a random game that I probably wont like for free.
Good deal if you're poor at the moment though.

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
You can leave the stream muted in the background and still be entered into the random giveaways. If it doesn't interrupt what you're currently doing there's really no reason not to sit in there.

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
When they just post random codes they are used so fast it's frightening.
Even if I had steam open and on the page to activate a code they'd be used before I could even paste it in the box

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
@Tails- It only makes sense to lurk and be eligible for free games. Let me know if you get anything.
@BH- Those "ninja" key giveaways aren't worth it. I think people have some way of cheating using and auto fill in feature on their browser or something.
Btw I'm Schminda on that chat.

I think the ninja codes have a lot to do with lag. People most likely do not see them at the same time so whoever has a better connection has an advantage.
Plus there is probably a way to cheat as well

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
This is being streamed from Norway I think, I'm one of the few US people camping the chat. I think you're right the lag has a lot to do with it. I know I've been like 1 second from when it posted and failed. I did talk them into doing more random lotteries though, they appreciate feedback.

I don't care for steam or most games. If I have time (something came up) I may lurk to pass out codes.

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
They're onto the idling thing now. Now you have to see it in chat and say a word or something. They usually do it when they start a new game and near the end. Random ones throughout.

Idlers can still win, just not as much.
Since my last post I won a second copy of Dwarfs!? and a copy of A Game of Dwarfs! That's a total of nine games.

Streaming, some of the games are on steam and some aren't. Why?

Re: Streaming games and giveaways
I think they do that because Steam is the most popular digital distribution service. I never even heard of Desura until the last stream.

The people at streamalicious have another totally free giveaway, Metro 2033. It's based on the novel of the same name and it features survival horror elements and a morality system. It's fps but it's supposedly story driven, there's no multiplayer.

All you have to do is like the page and it will give you a code. Ignore the directions to download the app, unless you absolutely refuse to use steam. If you don't have issues with steam just type in that code and the game is yours.

Are we getting it as an early release or do we get it on March 2013?

I believe that date is for the sequel. This promotion is to get it some attention.
