Reinvigoration and moving forward.

This topic is to gauge how we all feel about the server and what we can do to make it more active. If you have any complaints, requests, wishful thinking, ect lets hear it.

Personally I got a little burned out and I was gonna wait for the new update to play again. That didn't last though, I've been playing again recently and the only other person I encountered was cam, for like 5 minutes. Who else is still playing?

Now to the moving forward part of this. There's been some talk about having a fresh start when the new update comes out, what does everyone think about that idea? SH said he's able to transfer our items over if we want so that's good. I like the idea of a new world to celebrate the new update, but if people aren't down with it I'll be fine too. I'll add a poll.

I haven't been on my computer all that much because of my surgery. Any time I'm on RU, it's when I'm on my iPhone. I'm actually on my computer now though lol.

I voted for maybe just because I might not be able to get on that much. If we do start over, I don't want any of my items transferred over. I'd just start over fresh.

As for invigoration, I believe I'm on the most though the last two nights I've been playing SSP and SCP.

It should be pretty obvious how I would feel about a server restart.

I thought we agreed on a reset for everything past a 500x500 area. No way am I losing the Vault.

To restate, I have been against every single server restart we've ever done. That includes all the ones with Guardian's server.

Server restarts are generally asked for by people who are bored with Minecraft for other reasons and somehow think a fresh server will fix their lack of ingenuity/imagination. These are the same people who will say within a week of a server restart "I'm bored" or "I don't know what to build". Generally two weeks into a new server they'll stop logging on at all for the most part. Thus leaving anyone who's really interested in playing the game exactly where they left off, but with far less to show for their time and effort.

I'm on the edge on the yes/no. If we do restart, Id rather restart without items, so it be a true "fresh start". And I haven't built much of a house so I wouldn't be losing much, unlike losing buildings like giant towers, or the vault where a few people have put some decent amount of time into it, so at the same time I wouldn't want to restart because it would just be a pain to get all the stuff I gathered back again.

I guess I'm just waiting for the 1.3 update too, which isn't TOO far off. Once that comes out I'm sure ill be on alot more. I would like to see more special maps too, even more of the walls, or a tower defence map I saw on youtube. I'm not good at PVP, but I have to say, I did enjoy the walls when we played it.

I don't remember exactly who but there was talk of it in chat the other night. I was floating the idea but like I said in the first post I'm fine with not starting over too.

So unless the mood shifts dramatically before the update we won't be restarting. So let's try to work on invigoration. What would make everyone wanna play more? The only thing I want is more activity, if other people are playing I'm happy.

For the record, I'm not deleting the map, unless suddenly everyone starts telling me to do so, and not just people who haven't played for weeks.

It is only MY OPINION that it would be the easiest thing to do to get the entire 1.3 update broken in on the server, since people want all the new terrain features and whatever, instead of using buggy unofficial hack tools to painstakingly cherry pick chunks to delete.

But I realize that being a server OP comes with responsibility if I want people to keep playing, even if I operate it at expense. I'm not going to wantonly destroy countless hours people have invested into this world.

So here's the raw "official" deal:
I'm not deleting the map, unless a consensus is made here, and that isn't looking likely. By the miniscule chance that it is made, I would invest all the time necessary to transfer all inventories over.

After another griefing on the Dravocraft server I don't think Katz, Wolf, or I will be returning there.

I was talking about chipping in for a server. I am willing to front 1/4 of the monthly cost if three other individuals are willing to match me. I could front all the cost but I'm not willing to commit to something no one else is. The four of us would decide how we want to run the server. That amount to $5 a month per person.

Time for some of us to put up or shut up.
