Ancient 'New York City' of Canada Discovered - Yahoo! News Canada

This is really interesting news and I wonder if they'll discover it was a Viking settlement like the others found in eastern Canada.
That's right - they were doing it long before the British Empire even thought of it.
I'm not discounting the possibility it could have been a settlement of Native people - I don't really know, I'm just wondering because of the way they describe the size of the Mantle site.

I've heard of large Native villages in the old days but never something the size of a city.

{Interesting to note even though it was found in Canada the writer compared it to New York's Manhattan Island.
Because, as you know, there aren't any large cities in Canada it could have been compared to }

Not just yahoo, it was from yahoo.ca, which is what makes it remarkable.
After I read the Manhattan Island size comparison I half expected Football stadiums or Texas to be next.
