want to add 2nd hard drive

i have a computer i never use and i want to use the hard drive from it to store my music i know how to hook it in and everything its just how hard is it to format it and make it do as i like?

Not difficult at all.

Start Menu -> Type 'dskmgmt.msc' in box.

In the window look for the drive you want to format, right click and pick Format. In the next window:

Volume label: Your drive name here (like 'Music' or something)
File system: NTFS
Allocation unit size: Default
Perform a quick format: unchecked
Enable file and folder compression: unchecked

Click OK, and then OK on the final warning for the format. Be sure that there is no data on the drive you want to keep.

Then wait. It will take some time. The larger the drive, the longer it will take.

When it's done, the drive should appear on the bottom list of the drive management console with a "Healthy" status. Your drive is now ready to use!
