Worst Video Game Levels

These are the levels or areas that you dread to play when you play the game, the levels that have complex puzzles, powerful enemies, or just take too long.

The Magnetic Cave in FFIV is awful, for the sole fact that there is a magnetic field in the cave, so you can't use metal weapons or armor. More than likely, you will be running from all fights because 3 of your 4 party characters are paralyzed.

The final level in Ghostbusters 2 on NES. Not only do you have to run through it 4 times(1 for each GB) it gets progressively harder and more insane with tons and tons of crap thrown at you.

Water Temple in Ocarina of Time

Lakebed Temple in Twilight Princess. Easily worse than the Water Temple, the Lakebed Temple has a confusing layout, awful music, and just all-around annoyance.

Pretty much any small, close quarters maps in FPS games. I don't play to be stuck melee fighting or shotgun battling in tiny rooms.

There are several annoyingly hard levels in Retro Uprising - Arcade - Kid Chameleon - Highscores

Hills of the Warrior I <-- A wall of instant death spikes chase you through the level. You mess up for more than a couple seconds and runs over you.

The Pinnacle <-- You have to climb a mountain of rubber blocks that require perfect landings are you bounce in the wrong direction. You make a single mistake and you fall to the bottom to start over.

Battletoads (nes) The "Clinger Winger" One small mistake and you're back to the beginning.

Pretty much anything from Super Mario Sunshine.
That game was ridiculous.

Seconded. I hated that part.

Any ice level in a platformer, I just don't find them enjoyable at all.

The opening level of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2, where you have to escape from the stronghold.

The Notre Dame Cathedral level of Onimusha 3.

Most sewer levels in 3D action/adventure games.

Rock Tunnel in Pokemon Red and Blue, for the sole fact that you need Flash, the most useless HM, to get through without getting lost. And in the original game, you couldn't delete HM moves. Hope you didn't teach that move to your Charizard. Though even worse than that is Victory Road, Strength puzzles aren't fun.

You needed to use flash in Rock Tunnel? I must've played it too much never need to use flash in Red/Blue just Gold/Silver.

I hate just about every water level.

I meant to say that it was a very short and disappointing level, regardless of which exit you take.

A killer thunderstorm level in Donkey Kong Country 3. Come to think of it there's also a level where you guide an enemy fish to food so that it won't eat you. That one is quite annoying.

The final level of Uncharted 2.

The entire game makes you use cover and strategically move and fire to survive. They threw that out the window and made it a game of running around in endless circles trying to quickly shoot sap while the bad guy is next to it. If you miss he is going to mess you up before you can drop your gun and run again. You can try shooting from the hip but it's not likely.

Uncharted 1: The room where the cursed Spaniards first appear. They keep coming in waves, move quickly and if they corner you it's pretty much the end.

The level in FEAR 2 that pits you 1 on 1 with a freakin' gundam.
