Blue Screen Trouble/Tech Support?

I'm new here, so forgive me if I'm overstepping my bounds. Just figured I'd try asking:

Anybody good with computers that might be willing to help before I have to take my PC to the shop?


I try to start my PC and this is what pops up:





A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

I've restarted my computer numerous times, only to have the blue screen pop up once again.

Anybody that can help here, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I searched the Technical Information at the bottom and this was the part of the technical information that popped up.

How To Fix 0x00190203 Error?

Maybe it is the same thing. It's worth a look. I may be totally way off though, so you may want to wait for further advice from some of the more tech savvy users we have.

Thanks for the link and the help, but unfortunately it's not doing me much good at this point.

Advanced Computer User Solution (manual update):
1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator.
2) Click the Start button then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Restore.
3) In the new window, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option and then click Next.
4) Select the most recent system restore point from the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next.
5) Click Next on the confirmation window.
6) Restarts the computer when the restoration is finished.
These are the options to fix the solution according to the site, but unfortunately, the system won't let me in that far to complete any of the steps above.

I'm not very PC savvy but you should try booting into safemode. Press F8 on starup to get there. You might have to push it a few times to be sure. See if it lets you load that up. If not it might be some serious hardware failure.

Tried it already. Still comes up with the blue screen.

I've got this question posted on multiple boards, so I can get help from all over.


At this point I have been able to bring up the system utility menu, but not sure where to go from here.

When you get a blue screen you should ALWAYS copy the stop numbers and then google them, especially the first number before the parenthesis.

Your hard drive is corrupt.

Probably because it lost power too often instead of being properly shut down.

Possible solutions:
1. Buy a new hard drive. Reinstall windows.
2. Format current hard drive and reinstall windows.
3. Put damaged hard drive in a working computer as a secondary drive. Run chkdsk on the drive.
4. Run chkdsk from a windows install disk through the windows recovery console.
5. Use utorrent.com to download FalconFour's Ultimate Boot CD/USB 4.5 - Hiren's 13.0 (download torrent) - TPB Burn it to a disk and boot from it. Select SpinRite from the hard disk tools menu. Let it run.

#1 is the most reliable. I personally would do #5.

Error message in Windows 2000: "Stop 0x24" or "NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM"
