I have found a reason to mock MS!

This is what the forum looks like after their recent forum update. Only the support section is working atm. The tags on the right are particularly amusing I think. My contribution is "new forum ugly" I was having a Hulk moment apparently.

Btw besides being ugly and just messed up feeling they're not carrying over the old posts/topics/faqs/ect. Users are expected to go back to the archived site and copy it themselves if they want it, until they purge that site or lock it(they did say there's a time limit). Pretty boneheaded in most peoples opinions.

Obviously no one really cares about this but I wanna post an update so I can vent. Since I made this topic things have not improved. In fact it seems like it's getting worse. Still waiting for them to add individual game forums(some are there but very few) and now the forum software is messing up in multiple ways(slowing way down, loading issues, ect). Everyday I see people saying they're done waiting and they're moving to xbox fansites. I know some people like to make these kind of empty threats but the sheer volume of these posts makes me think it's partially true.

So the bottomline is, MS did a complete overhaul and now it's messed up. Instead of keeping it's customers in the loop they're remaining completely silent about it in spite of their members basically begging for info. Talk about fail right?

Why did people use the official site anyways? I'd think that fan sites would have better motivation, being that they are often made by people who genuinely want to talk about Microsoft.

Because the official site was a place that all the Live users gathered to discuss the games and gaming related stuff. Fansites have always been an option but they're usually run by people who aren't fair and impartial about moderation or they're very specific, like sites just for people who farm achievements. Having a central location to get news and info about games with support from MS was a good situation, up until now.

I can't imagine going to an official site for my news and information. I understand the reason you go there but to me the cons just outweigh the pros.

I didn't say it was the only place I(or other people) go for that stuff. I mean it was a good resource. It had tons of specific game sections full of user created info like faqs and people would be there to answer questions you may have. Now it's all messed up and people don't know where to go.

What are the cons you're thinking of? If you mean the typical idiots associated with Live that wasn't an issue because the forum mods were pretty strict about trolling and stuff like that.

Microsoft must have followed Sony's lead.

Sony's official PS boards were actually pretty good and had a ton of game and genre specific sections. Then one day they completely changed the format and no one could figure out how to use it.

They had to post a tutorial on how to find stuff on the new message board it was so bad.

People were comparing it to Sonys issue but then this just kept going and still most of the forums are missing. It's been far too long, something must be wrong.

So more reason to scorn MS. Myself and some other Shadowrun players have been literally begging and demanding a fix for a voice chat issue MS caused. Our topic was ignored for two months(that's since the new forum, the issue is much older) and then a mod told us they can't help us and to contact our local support number. When I told him we have tried that and that his answer is unacceptable he just locked the topic and changed it's status to answered(the OP changed it to unanswered when I pointed that out). Now I made a new topic in the general support section to ask why we were ignored for so long and why they refuse to answer us. Today a mod told me I should make a twitter account to look for support. Can you believe that? The other option he gave was for me to personally PM support people(even though I have no idea who I should be bothering).

So do you guys think I'm being unreasonable?

They're lazy and obviously not doing their job. These people were hired by Microsoft?

I just don't get it. They're mods. They should've at least told you that they couldn't help and redirect you to someone else if they couldn't fix the problem. It's sad that it took them 2 months to respond to the topic and give that kind of an answer. The fact that they want you to make a Twitter account to look for support is idiotic. Jeez, what's with Microsoft nowadays >_>

To fix your problem...is there someone from Shadowrun (the developers?) or someone you can contact directly to file your issue and they will fix it? Maybe a Shadowrun forum or something?

No Fasa, the company who made SR, was closed down soon after it launched. Another company has the rights to the intellectual property but MS has control of the current game and this issue is theirs to fix. It's also on them because one of their updates broke the game which was working fine.

Not true. The truth is there's no one buying it new anymore. Well maybe some people are but they're getting ripped off. MS makes nothing off the used sales and they make nothing off the game itself because there's no DLC.
But I already brought that up when we asked for this help. My point is there's still a community of xbox and PC players who enjoy the game regularly. They should fix it to help their customers, simple as that.

So it's old, the company that made it is gone, and Microsoft wants nothing to do with it. No matter how big the community is they have given up on it. Just be happy they haven't just closed the servers yet.

Yeah it was released in 07 and the company folded soon after but the community has remained strong that whole time, that should tell them something. Most games, even popular ones, become ghost towns after a few months.

Believe me I'm thankful they haven't dropped support for it totally. But it's still not fair of them to not fix a simple communication problem they caused. Lots of people know about this issue, more now that I posted about, so it's just making MS look bad. I hope that shame works and makes them do the right thing but I'm not holding my breath.

i'd like to point out that Shadowrun still has quite a large following of its own. Large enough that it isn't difficult to find a game to play online ever. There is usually 5-17 games going in the region you're in.

Btw the part I find most amusing about this is that last night I decided I was gonna give up since they made it clear they don't care and won't help us. Now that they decided to take this course of action I've made it a personal mission to be as passive aggressive as possible, within the rules. I really don't care if they ban me either. The forum has been garbage since they "upgraded" and most of the interesting members left out of frustration. Now it's mainly suck ups and newbs, not that entertaining at all.
