PS2 had a light gun?

I was looking for a picture to use in my signature, and came across this:

I never knew such a thing as a PS2 light gun existed, did you guys?

You have to love the internet, it provides so much extra information which often leads to 'discoveries' such as this.
I know you guys are probably groaning and rolling your eyes as I present yet another Lamer issue, but for me this is kind of exiting.

How come I never saw another game besides this one that supports this apparently rare light gun?
I even came across a hunting game recently and it didn't seem to indicate this, which would have been perfect for that title.
What was this gun?
Did it take batteries?
These are things I need to know!

I think there was only about 5 or 6 games that required it. Not the most popular accessory.

I think there were a couple of Time Crisis games that used the light gun. I also think there was a Resident Evil game that used it as well.

Just a quick look on Ebay shows that there were multiple light guns produced. They did not require batteries.

Hmm, I wonder if it's as good as the Nintendo Zapper.

I think the light gun for the PS1 was compatible for the PS2 as well

It was called the GunCon

I have the GunCon for the PS1 that came with Time Crisis. It plugs into the regular controller port, and the yellow video cable passes through a port also connected to the cord. You have to calibrate it at the start of the game.

I didn't realize they're Israeli made guns, I guess the name makes more sense now though.

Joe if you want to buy one Game Deals in New West had like 5 of them the last time I was there 2 weeks ago.(Used of course) It is just outside the Columbia SkyTrain Station.

that thing would be illigal over here, unless it was a different colour, most replicia/false/anything that resembles a gun are bright orange, even plastic pellet guns.

Actually I think that kind of gun would be illegal or at least redesigned if it were released today. I suspect it only looks that way because it was so obscure and parents groups didn't catch wind of it.

Yeah Guns are mostly illigal over here unless you have a licenece (I shot some clay pidgons not long ago with a shot gun, THAT was FUN) but anything that even looks like a gun, you can get arrested for now for something like in posession of a fake firearm.
