Looking to download ps1 games to psp
My friend said the psp itself is already a perfect ps1 emulator or something and that you just need to add the iso to the psp. My brother is giving back FF 7 to a friend he hasn't seen in 6 years  and I still haven't been able to beat the last boss and I want to start over anyways. Just wondering if anyone can comfirm if what my friend says is true and if not, if there is a way to emulate ps1 on my psp.
Thanks,
~Cam.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
Talk to Demonmask, need to tweak it and get custom firmware. You can get any emulator.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
I know this, I did that and I have emulators for lots of things like snes, gba, tg16, etc.
I think I might be alright, this is something I want to figure out still but in ff 7's case, I got it working on my computer on an emulator almost perfectly

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
If he has custom firmware, he cannot access PSN, and if he can, nothing he downloads will work. I've tried it with demos.
There are several ways to do this:
1. You download the game in the format already, you put the file in a folder and put that in X:/PSP/GAME, I recommend this for multi-disk games like FFVII, as you can get the discs all in one file. It's easier when it comes to disk-swap time.
2: You download something called "Popstation GUI" and convert the game files to the format the PSP uses, then put that file in a folder, put the folder in X:/PSP/GAME
Now then, we get onto some other things:
You will need a plugin called popsloader. Just curious, what firmware do you use? Different firmwares use different variants of the plugin.
Popsloader full pack for 5.50 Gen A/B/C/D/Other upcoming 5.50 GEN versions - PSP Hacks - Forums
That download should contain everything you need, assuming you use some variant of 5.50 GEN, which I recommend strongly the use of GEN-D3.
When booting a PSX game for the first time on the PSP, hold the R-Trigger and you will get a list of different popsloaders, go for the one that the game is compatible with. If none is given, your best bet is "3.71 pops" usually a multi-disk game will take a different one. Always set the disk-load speed to fast to avoid any slowdown.
PSX on PSP Compatibility List - TheGamersPress
It goes in X:/seplugins
Um... as for where you can download games already converted, I tend to go to PSPISO - Play Station Portable Games, though you need to register for an account, there is a good section for PSX games.
PSP ISO - PSP Games CSO ISO PSX eBoot CWCheat Direct Downloads
This one is also good, there is a section for PSX games as well.
Right now I am having trouble finding the popstation GUI anywhere, So I'll just zip it and post it as an attachment. I think you need Microsoft's .NET framework or something like that, you'll need to find that yourself, it shouldn't be difficult.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
FFVII is a massive game, so yeah.
It isn't particularly difficult once you get the hang of it.
For M33, here's the popsloader:
New Full 5.00m33 Popsloader - PSPCrazy Forums - PSP Games, PSP Downloads, PSP News, and PSP Themes
There is a link to it on that page, you don't have to go through all the steps as this one includes everything needed to set up popsloader.
I recommend just finding already converted games, as it can be frustrating converting them yourself, sometimes taking thirty minutes or more.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
Well, thanks for the ps1 booter. I'll have to find a game I want to play now because this was mostly about wanting to play ff VII which I'm now several hours into on a pc emulator lol.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
No problem, I'm always glad to help.
Also, when you put the game on the PSP, make sure the file is called "EBOOT.PBP", it cannot be called anything else, make sure it is in a folder as well.
I'd recommend Vagrant Story and Wild ARMs.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
Yeah, but I'm going to try and break free of my habits of playing a million different games at once jumping from one to the other and try and get through FF VII right this time :P I really didn't do much right before with materia and character choice when I was playing through ages ago as a little kid.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
Good luck with that. I recently tried to get through FFVII again, but I lost interest somewhere down the line. So, I decided to play a few games instead, all at once, but still no problems: Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen, FFV, FFVI, Vagrant Story.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
I'm hoping I don't lose interest, but then again I never do. I just stop playing the games at some point... I'm at 16 hours now so I think I may be alright and I'm really, really enjoying it again. I don't even remember much about the story past midgar since I never cared much as a little kid lol.

When I lost interest this last time, I think I was somewhere on the first disk still, I just didn't enjoy it as much.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
the game gets really good, I actually enjoy this one a lot though a lot of rpg extremists complain against if for whatever reason but I'm just a casual gamer and I like it so yeah. Still going strong at 20 hours, leveled up high for the point in the game I'm in and it's still a blast so I think I may be good... I hope.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
Oh, I'm not deny it's a good game, but I just couldn't get into it like some people seem to. Sort of like how most people can't get into Legend of Legaia or Wild Arms because their view of the PS1 RPG is Final Fantasy.

Re: Looking to download ps1 games to psp
Yeah, I can't get into zelda or metroid or anything, not saying they aren't good either but I do see what you mean in that sense.
