Looking for an old movie

Just like the other thread about the cartoon, but this was a live action movie.
It was around 84-86 when I saw it I think, the stuff I remember was this kid who used to got to a quarry and in the quarry was a big backhoe, only the kid thought it was a monster. I seem to remember the kid referring to it as "Donkagin". I think the general premise was that of a kid letting his imagination get away from him.

The movie was titled, "The Quest," or "Frog Dreaming" depending on which country you watched it in.

It was called 'The go kids' in the U.K
