Also I'm really not trying to be a negative Nancy but I thought TG had some new big shot CEO that was gonna turn everything around? Fishing for funding like this seems like they're not doing so well.
TG's strategy of promising hoodies to those who competed in IGBY on the TG team if they won. They did not win. I think they ended up in fifth place despite their hoodie humping.
"In the Arms of an Angel" starts up as it cuts to an a fat kid playing Call of Duty while slurping Mountain Dew, his Cheeto-dust encrusted hand mashing buttons, the whole time screaming obscenities about someone's mother.
Cut to Jace Hall making his pitch: "Blah blah blah, gamers are persecuted, blah blah, social networks, blah blah, give us money."
Cut to a clip of Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds screaming, "NNNNEEEERRRRDDDDSSSS!!!"
Cut a quick shot of a mean email stolen shamelessly from Cool Cat Saves the Kids.

That is a little weird but I don't think it's really a bad thing. If it motivates people to participate then it seems like it's a positive for us, right?
It doesn't seem too bad, but the way they did it came off really scummy, like they were trying to buy their way to the top.
That might just be my own biases, though. I understand that they're not under the same leadership that tried to charge for high score submissions, but something still seems off about these guys.

Although at only 32 backers, it doesn't seem like gamers are too concerned about the SJW's slander.
Two anonymous donations of 35k? And since its flexible funding they just straight up keep that money even if they don't meet the goal.
People can spend money on what they want, but jeesh.....'us gamers' really want that societal approval huh.

The issue with TG is that its always been focused on a very niche section of gamers. Its hard to believe they want to support the whole gaming community and not just promote the same agenda they've had for years.
"How much are they going to support the parts of the industry I'm interested in" is what any sane person is going to ask themselves. The only people seriously funding this are those in line with TG's old agenda.
I don't know much about TG or its community but I always got the impression that they mainly care about old arcade gaming and that's pretty much it. Am I wrong?
Some major hating going on in this thread. As far as Twin Galaxies is concerned they are primarily score keepers for video games new, and old. They do speed runs as well, but the speed running community has other sites they would rather go to. The reason why TG is thought of as Arcade only is because 90 percent of their press comes from Arcade game scores. Go check out their site, and you'll see that most of their current submitted scores have nothing to do with Arcade. If anything it's the news media that only cares about Arcade scores. TG is much broader than that.
@George Riley: I don't mean any disrespect to TG's community and I count some of them as trusted friends. I just feel the wording of their funding appeal is sending very mixed messages. At the beginning its stated that they want the funds to create social awareness and acceptance of the hobby, worthwhile goals in my mind. Then there's a stark juxtaposition as you read on and their mission statement focuses completely on competitive gaming. Competitive gamers are a very, very small fraction of gamers. This just comes off as exclusive rather than inclusive.
There's nothing at all wrong with TG wanting to create and promote the competitive gaming culture, but when you're asking people to donate their money to your cause, you should be upfront and clear on exactly what that cause is.
